Record Book Breakdown Who does them? All 4-H members (4-12th graders!) are highly encouraged to complete record books. Check your club by-laws as some clubs require them! Clover Kids (K-3rd graders) should NOT. How do I do one? The traditional record book is a binder with forms filled out. Binders have tabs separating each of the sections. There are six sections we encourage you to include! Links to the forms are on our website. There are also options to do a portfolio, video, or audio recordings. Learn more on our website. Where and when do I turn them in? Club leaders or the Extension Office by October 15. Members who completed 4-8th grades will have their record book reviewed by their Club Leaders. Members who completed 9-12th grades will have their record book reviewed by a committee. What kind of incentive is there? Keeping records is a life-long skill that 4-H instills in youth from a young age. As a incentive, the Clinton County 4-H Foundation will present each member who turns in a record book with a membership medal their first year. Each year after members receive a pin and certificate depending on how their record books place. Members who have completed 11th and 12th grades can apply for project area awards. Winners receive $100! Members must have at least two years of records for this award. What about Officer Books? The Treasurer, Historian, Secretary, and Reporter are all officer positions who can submit officer books. Evaluation forms are on our website. Members compete against other clubs for highest ranking officer books. Books are judged by a committee and are due to the Extension Office by October 15. What is the Record Keeping website again? https://www.extension.iastate.edu/clinton/content/4-h-record-keeping Record Books are due October 15!! 4
