GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC) Minutes – May 15, 2019 President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order. Forty-eight members were in attendance. GUESTS: • The Club welcomed: ➢ Patrick and Valerie Moseley owners of a 2012 Blade Silver Metallic Z06. ➢ Robert Ingoldsby & Ann Armstrong-Ingoldsby owners of a 1994 Aquamarine C4. ANNOUNCEMENTS: • Freddie thanked: ➢ Bob Sledge for the advertisement of our June 23 Corvette car show in the Dayton Daily News, Wheels Section this past Saturday. ➢ Dan and Donna for hosting the dinner out to Fiesta Veracruz and the Mike Albert Elvis show on May 11. ➢ Wayne Dawson and Diane Kolleck for hosting a Kentucky Derby Party at Diane’s home on May 4. ➢ Nancy Winterbotham and Terri Kopa for passing out our car show flyers at Bud’s this past Saturday and to everyone who has passed out flyers at other car shows. • Jay Robinson’s daughter, Amanda, thanked the Club for the cards, flowers, and donations that were received for the passing of Jay’s mother and her grandmother. VICE PRESIDENT: • Bob Haugh called for the following reports: SECRETARY’S REPORT: • Larry Kopa motioned dispensing with reading of the April minutes. Pat Frymyer seconded. TREASURER’S REPORT: • Herbie Smith provided the report. SOCIAL: • Donna Tucker recapped the following: ➢ May 17-19: Train ride and dinner at the Gandy Dance Theatre in Elkins WVA. She handed out a packet to those making the trip with step by step directions of the main route that will be followed. ➢ June 1: Dayton Dragon’s game with Corvette show. Donna made reservations at the Brick Ice House (across from the stadium) for 3:00 p.m. If you would like to eat there before the game, let Donna know. ➢ June 1: Brookville Open Car Show, Brookville OH.
➢June 14: Voss open car show, Centerville OH. ➢June 20-22: Bloomington Gold, Indianapolis IN. ➢June 22: Boris Tirpack racing at Mid-Ohio race track. ➢June 23: GDCC Corvette only car show. ➢June 25: Lunch at Cap City Diner, Columbus OH and tour of the American Whistle Factory, the only manufacturer of metal whistles in the United States. An e-mail was sent out with this information. ➢ June TBD: Dinner out hosted by Russ and Gail Hodge. ➢ October 4-5: East Tennessee Corvette Club, 41st Annual Vette Fest, Pigeon Forge TN. More information can be found at http://www.etcorvette.club. ➢ November 30: Ohio State/Michigan game hosted by Dan and Donna. More information to follow. • Donna also queried the Club to find out if anyone would like to host a 2020 Super Bowl party. MEMBERSHIP: • Carol Tavener reported that we have 135 members including five who joined this evening. PUBLIC RELATIONS: • Bob Sledge provided the following: ➢ Members should contact him to have their picture and that of their car to be put in the Club pictorial directory. Bob will take the pictures. ➢ The Club has 447 likes on our Facebook page. ➢ Approximately 6,075 people were reached out to for our upcoming car show. EDITOR/ WEBMASTER: • Mike Jones was absent. NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR: • Tom Brooks: ➢ Introduced himself as the NCM Ambassador for our Club to the new members. ➢ Reminded members that he can no longer sell raffle tickets for Corvettes raffled at the NCM. They must be bought in Kentucky or one of the approved states. ➢ Some members who attended the NCM April Bash saw the 25 th build of the C8. PRESIDENT: Old Business: • Freddie:
➢ Asked if anyone would like to watch the Corvettes that will be on display at the June 1 Dragon’s game. In the past she has sat with the Corvettes but due to a reunion she and Bob will attend, she will not be there. The ball park does have security off and on throughout the game. She said she has not experienced any issues in the past. ➢ Has flyers advertising our all Corvette cruise-in for members to take and pass out at cruise-ins and providing to businesses when asking for door prizes. ➢ Asked if anyone else would like to participate in the July 4 Americana Parade in Centerville OH. • Judy Smith discussed the following: ➢ Our Club all Corvette car show is on June 23 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This is our major fund raiser for the charities we give to at the end of the year. ➢ Club members are asked to be at Giovanni’s at 9:00 a.m. to set up. ➢ Cost is $10.00 per car. ➢ There will be a DJ. ➢ Raffle tickets will be sold for 50/50 and pick a prize. ➢ An e-mail will be sent out for door prize donations. ➢ Fred Farnsley, Club member, will have a set of Goodyear tires that will be raffled. The winner will have the opportunity to get tires for any vehicle. Does not need to be for a Corvette. Tickets will be $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. • Bob Haugh added to the car show information: ➢ He is in charge of parking and is in need of five more volunteers. ➢ Needs four people to put up the tent for the DJ. ➢ Workers will work in pairs and will wear bright vests. ➢ Will have a special section for the Brookville and Fort Thomas Corvette Clubs to park. ➢ Wants everyone to be safe and drink plenty of water. ➢ Steve Stoker will be motoring around on his Segway. New Business: • Freddie: ➢ Completed and returned the application for the Kettering at Home Parade for September 2. If you would like to participate, let Freddie know. • Judy Smith motioned that the Club give Boris Tirpack $200 for his racing. Seconded by Donna Tucker. Motion carried. Mike Beedy motioned that the amount be amended to $500. Seconded by Dean Tavener. Motion carried. • Carl Durbin thanked Donna for a great outing on Saturday. The Mike Albert show was really good. • George Frymyer conducted the 50/50 which was won by Greg Fagan. Greg won $74.00 George Frymyer motioned the meeting to adjourn; seconded by Tom Murph.
