Humanity often looks to the promise of the future and of technology with hope to solve many of the global and local challenges that we face today. Perhaps a more balanced and harmonious approach would be to also look to the wisdom of the past. The Seventh Generation Principle dates back to the writing of The Great Law of Iroquois Confederacy (circa 1200 A.D.) and is based on the philosophy that decisions we make today should result in a sustainable world seven generations into the future. So, a thoughtful question that we can ask ourselves on an ongoing basis is: “How will I begin to incorporate this principle into all areas of my life where I have not yet done so, for the benefit of future generations?"
