Any personal information given by you to a facilitator will be the responsibility of that individual and not the school. Please note any instruments or equipment left in the school or on the grounds are not the school’s responsibility. ANYONE 4 SCIENCE Description of Course: Over the year the children will participate in a number of experiments on each of the following topics: Age range: Geology, anatomy, chemistry, electricity and Preparatory Senior - 6th class food science. Description of Course: BALLET Prep Junior: Our Primatots junior ballet programme introduces our little ballerinas to basic ballet technique while developing imagination, co-ordination, posture and confidence with beautiful props and music being incorporated into each class. Later in the term we introduce slightly Age range: more advanced ballets steps and routines. We use correct french ballet terms from ‘demi-plie’ and Preparatory Junior & Senior, ‘sautes’ to positions of the arms etc and we focus 1st - 6th class on introducing a beautiful ballet posture in our ballerinas. Prep Senior & up: In our Primakids level classes we introduce ballet techniques, steps and Day and Time: exercises that are age appropriate in their technical requirements. From the ages of 6+ yrs students Preparatory Junior: also study the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Wednesday 12.30-1.30pm system of ballet examinations and have the option of entering for RAD ballet exams. DRAMA FOR FUN Description of Course: Drama For Fun is an exciting way to develop vocal training, speech, acting, improvisation and mime through games and group work. Age range: Poetry, Prose and Drama are explored in 3rd-6th Class a fun atmosphere, working in groups, thus teaching the girls how to cooperate and appreciate each other's efforts. HOCKEY Description of Course: Learning the fundamentals of hockey from basics to fun individual and team games. IRISH Description of Course: Each child will be taught the basic steps of DANCING Irish dancing which includes both soft and hard shoe dancing. When children are ready to move forward, they will learn dances such as jigs, reels, slip jigs, hard jigs, hornpipes Age range: and traditional set dances. Each child will perfect steps at their own pace. Preparatory Senior - 6th Class This is a very energetic and fun class and will have everyone tapping their feet and looking for more. Description of Course: Kids Students learn to be competent in many aspects of coding and modern computing Code! including word processing and The Internet, using fun themes in small classes. FLUTE Description of Course: (Individual) Students will receive half an hour individual lesson every week for 27 weeks. At the end of each term students will take part in a flute group performance. Students will be taught how to read music, produce a beautiful tone on the flute and vital musicianship skills which are developed in class and in our group rehearsals. Age range: Lessons are for beginners to intermediate. 2nd—6th class All students must have their own flute and Day and Time: practice regularly. PIANO Description of Course: I believe that Piano lessons should be with student centered and tailored to suit each Christiane O’Mahony child. For some students, exams are an excellent focus and motivation to practise. For others I adapt their favourite tunes to suit their level of playing. Age range: For all students, I encourage them to play as much as possible, whether for their 1st —6th class family and friends, their class, at assembly, at concerts. Piano can be a solitary instrument so duets / trios are organized / facilitated. Lessons are 30 minutes. VIOLIN Description of Course: with All technique, theory, musicianship and Sarah Lane repertoire including orchestra pieces (if necessary) will be covered. Music in the early stages can be quite solitary until the beginner stage is passed. After this the children can join orchestras etc. where they can make new friends whilst improving their music skills and it is at this point where they can really have fun with their music. VIOLIN Description of Course: with The course covers the fundamentals of Mercedes Trinchero music and violin playing in a holistic approach. All classes will be tailored to each student according to their specific needs and abilities , striving to install a life long love for music (all levels covered from beginners to grade 8). Age range: Emphasis will be given to correct and healthy posture and technique. Skills will be Preparatory Senior—6th Class introduced gradually and musical terms and idioms explained. SPANISH Description of Course: The key of the class will be to make Spanish with Ms Yolanda “good fun” to learn. The aim of the course is to introduce the students into the world of the Spanish language and to foster an early interest into a foreign language. The methods used are games, songs and cards for special dates as well as group and pair activities. The emphasis will be on everyday Age range: vocabulary (numbers, colours, animals, families, clothes, hobbies etc.) and basic 1st—6th Class Spanish geography. TENNIS Description of Course: To teach the fundamentals of tennis in an enjoyable environment. I use the “play- practice-play "method with mini-games/ competitions interwoven into each sessions focus. Description of Course: The Academy of Students who attend the Academy of Speech and Drama can expect a fun filled and Speech and Drama creative platform where all aspects of the drama curriculum are explored. Students will explore and participate in puppetry, improvisation, poetry, movement to music, speech projection and communication skills. Within each class I encourage full interaction in all activities and promote a class full of excitement and colour where students leave feeling full of enthusiasm and self confidence. Students will have the Age range: opportunity to perform in a showcase where parents and relatives will be invited to come Preparatory Junior to 2nd class along and view what we have been working on during that specific term. This showcase will occur at the end of term 1, our Christmas Day and Time: performance (all costumes will be provided for showcases). Students in the 2nd term will Preparatory Junior: be prepared for the Irish Board of Speech Monday 12.30—1.30pm and Examinations. These exams are not compulsory and they carry an extra fee Preparatory Senior: depending on grading. Each class is Tuesday 12.30-1.30pm individually tailored and planned so as to keep the students minds engaged in 1st & 2nd: participation and constantly challenge them Wednesday 3—4pm creatively.
