Hi everyone and welcome to week 4 term 2. We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Mothers’ Day and loved your presents. Thank you to the staff and P&C for organising Mother’s Day gifts for Casino West students. Preschool will be having their Mothers’ Day picnics this week. Last week I had the privilege to go along with year 5 and 6 to the GRIP Student Leadership Conference. This was an amazing experience for all of our students as most schools only took their SRC student representatives. The day was an excellent blend of learning opportunities, fun and opportunities to meet students from other schools. Our students shone out as great representatives of Casino West. Please be mindful when taking photos or of including other students who are not your own onto social media platforms such as Facebook. These students may not have permission to be used or are in care situations where their images cannot be made public. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Practise for the dance group is going along full steam ahead as they will be performing very soon. Astoria and Mrs Mills are very proud of all the students involved with this and they can not wait to take them away for their big performance. If you wish to attend the performance on Tuesday 18 May you need to access the Lismore City Hall website (a link is available on our Facebook page). This week will be a great one for years 3 and 5 as they will participate in NAPLAN on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This is a snapshot of how they are going in Literacy and Mathematics and we wish them all the best for these days. On Friday our school will be participating in ‘Do it for Dolly’. Students are invited to wear blue on the day if they bring a gold coin to raise funds for anti-bullying. We will also be taking part in the Walk Safely to School Day. As part of this initiative the P&C will be providing fruit for all students to highlight healthy eating. The Rotary Breakfast program will recommence each Wednesday morning between 9.00am- 9.15am. We look forward to welcoming back the volunteers. Have a great week! Mr Dean Campbell, Assistant Principal.
“You all did a great job of walking responsibly and safely to the correct area at the end of the day. I really liked the way students walked to their bus-waiting classroom and remained there until walked by the teacher to the bus shelter. Great Job everyone!” Gold Coin Donation Friday 14 May Dress in blue

And although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily EVERY routine. student between You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking more by: • Walking with them the whole way to school 9.00 - 9.15am • If they get the bus or train, walk past your usual stop and get on at the next stop • If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way. A BIG thank Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like you to our obesity, heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and diabetes.
