Welcome to Week 10 Term 1,
Moolarben School Spirit Awards - Congratulations
to Kiera Turnbull and Harry Hogden, our Dunedoo
Central School Representatives at the Moolarben
School Spirit Awards, held in Mudgee last Wednes-
day evening. The students were competing against
the individual school recipients from St Matthews,
Mudgee, Gulgong and Kandos High schools. Harry Hogden was awarded
the overall senior winner of the Moolarben School Spirit Award. Congratula-
tions to both Kiera and Harry on being excellent ambassadors for the Dune-
doo Central School Community.
Lions Youth of the Year - Congratulations to Emilie Coe who competed in the
District Final of the Lions Youth of the Year competition held in Maitland on
Sunday afternoon. Emilie participated in an interview followed by competing
in the Public Speaking competition where she gave two impromptu speeches
and a prepared speech on Role Models. Emilie represented both our school,
Lions Club and community with pride. Well done Emilie on being another ex-
cellent ambassador for our school.
Cross Country & Colour Explosion—well done to the Cross Country commit-
tee on holding a fantastic carnival last Friday. It was so great to see so many
students participating with enthusiasm and having fun. Well done to Primary
who had 98% attendance on the day and to Yr 11 who had the great partici-
pation rate for the Secondary. Thank you to everybody who supported stu-
dents in their fundraising efforts, with over $2000 being raised for our Stu-
dent Representative Council.
Dunedoo Sports Club P&C Donation - Thank you to everybody who supported
the ‘End of Month’ raffles at the Dunedoo Sports Club last Friday night. The club
gave a very generous donation of $578 to our P&C.
Merit Assembly - Well done to all of the students who received awards at our
Merit Assembly yesterday in recognition of their efforts throughout Term 1. It
was lovely to be able to have family and friends in attendance.
I wish everybody a safe and Happy Easter and a great holiday break.

What a fantastic Term we’ve had! It’s been so busy that it’s really hard to believe we’ve reached the end
of the term already. I’m sure everyone is looking forward to their Easter holiday break.
Congratulations to all students who received an award at yesterday’s whole school Merit Assembly. It’s so
good to have parents and visitors able to join us again to celebrate the success of our students at assem-
blies. Primary assemblies will begin in Term 2, and we are looking forward to showcasing our students’
work at these.
Last week was exceptionally busy and we would like to thank parents for supporting student participation
in the Big Vege Crunch, and of course, the Cross Country and School Colour Explosion. Students look for-
ward to these types of special events, which involve extra effort by parents to ensure their children can
participate.
Students in Years 3 and 5 will participate in NAPLAN Online practice tests this week, to prepare them for
NAPLAN tests next term. Our purchase of two sets of chrome books in 2020 has proven to be most useful
in assisting students to develop their digital technology skills, and we are noticing good progress in this
area.
Congratulations to Oscar on a successful tryout for the Western Region Rugby League team. We are also
looking forward to hearing about Ethan’s experiences at the PSSA State Finals this week. DCS kids are re-
nowned for their athleticism and passion for sport!
This week we are looking forward to the Easter Bunny possibly calling in to leave some surprises for stu-
dents. The egg-citement is definitely building! Have a safe and restful break, everyone.

This year Dunedoo Central School is implementing the NSW Department of Education “What Works Best” ele-
ments. There are 8 research-based areas of quality teaching practices that are known to support school improve-
ment and enhance the learning outcomes of our students. The first element is HIGH EXPECTATIONS.
Teachers’ beliefs about their students influence how they teach and interact with them. High expectations are
linked with higher performance for all students.
Staff are exploring what we currently do and what we can improve in this area.
We would appreciate any feedback that parents and community members can contribute to enhance this collab-
orative process. Please tear off this feedback form and bring into the office or you may like to email, phone or
text the school to give your responses.
