Welcome to Montreux Riviera, a real corner of pa-
radise, which has attracted so many artists, men of
letters and travellers in search of natural beauty,
peace and inspiration.
Indeed, it was certainly not by chance that Charlie
Chaplin chose to spend the last 25 years of his life
on the hillside behind Vevey, or that Freddie Mer-
cury immortalized Lake Geneva and the peaks of
the Grammont on the cover of his album “Made
in Heaven”, or that Stravinsky composed the “Rite
of Spring” at Montreux, or that the singer Prince
declared his love for Lavaux in a song called after
the famous terraced vineyard, part of the UNESCO
World Heritage.
How do you explain the attraction that Montreux Rivie-
ra held for Hemingway, Nabokov, Sissi and so many ot-
hers? Perhaps it’s the advantages of the microclimate,
or the splendours of a lake that you cannot but admire,
or the surrounding mountains, both impressive and re-
assuring, or the sunsets that resemble the paintings
of the masters…? No doubt all of these aspects! But
whatever the reasons that attracted you to Montreux
Riviera, we would like to wish you the most pleasant,
relaxing and inspiring stay.
On the sidelines of the 2019 Winegrowers Festival,
a multitude of activities related to winestourism,
culture and leisure are available.
The „Fête des Vignerons“ is unique in its kind and
takes place once per generation in Vevey, Switzerland.
1 The festival is organised by the ‘Confrérie des Vigne-
rons’ since the 18th century and is a celebration of the
WINEGROWERS’ regional traditions, shown with a play as well modern
as magnificent. Since 1st December 2016 it is part of
F E S T I VA L the UNESCO World Heritage and is a witness of the wi-
negrower’s identity, their knowledge and the vineyards
VEVEY of Lavaux (UNESCO) and Chablais Vaudois.
This will take place from July 18 – August 11, 2019.
WINE TOURISM
Situated between Lausanne and Chillon Castle along-
side Lake Geneva, Lavaux is one of the most beauti-
ful parts of Switzerland, with its man-made vineyard
terraces listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. The
area is equally known for its walks, villages and, of
course, its wines.

The Brotherhood of Winegrowers in Vevey by Lake Ge-
neva tells the story of this mythical society known for
organising the Fête des Vignerons wine festival. The

In Veytaux, near Montreux, Chillon Castle has stood
proudly on its rocky island since the 12th century, ap-
