Monthly community phlebotomy pilot update 29 October 2021 Welcome to the October monthly community phlebotomy pilot update. Previous updates can be found on our website along with a full list of phlebotomy services across BHR. Following the suspension of non-urgent blood tests between 26 August and 17 September 21, testing activity in primary and community care has now resumed for non-critical phlebotomy referrals. Phlebotomy provision at Seven Kings Health Centre in Redbridge (set up on a temporary basis during the pandemic) has been extended until the additional chairs at Loxford Polyclinic are confirmed. Queen Mary Practice, South Woodford Health Wednesdays and Fridays 0900- 18:00 Centre 114 High Road, South Woodford, London E18 2QS book online from w/c 25 October 2021 Current data: • 20,065 blood tests were carried out across BHR in September 2021. • 89% of appointments were carried out within 1 week from the date of booking date .
• 10% of appointments were carried out within 2 weeks from the date of booking. • 1% of appointments were carried out more than 2 weeks after booking (patient choice). Engagement • We have developed a patient survey which can be completed online via a text and email link once the appointment has finished. • This link can also be shared via email for those who do not have a mobile phone. • We continue to share updates and the link to our dedicated email address in our local and NEL wide stakeholder updates to invite local feedback. • We are working closely with Healthwatch to reach out to those who do not have web/mobile phone access for their feedback to ensure that feedback is representative. • A frequently updated list of all sites and provision is available on the CCG website, as well as on the NELFT website and is linked to from the BHRUT website. • The above mentioned list of sites is also shared regularly with practice colleagues for patients. • We are currently looking at how we can create dedicated phlebotomy sessions to accommodate people with learning disabilities. • We are also looking at home visiting for those with severe learning disabilities. Patient survey results to date We are now able to report on our patient survey data. 7993 patients responded to the survey and we are pleased to report that 93% fed back a good or very good experience. A sample of the questions and responses are broken down below: • How easy did you find it, to get an appointment? 3,447 said “very easy”, or “easy” 71 said “difficult” • Overall, how was your experience of our service? 3327 said “good” or “very good” 191 said “very poor”, “poor” or “ok” • Were you happy with the distance you travelled to your appointment? 3343 said “yes “ 107 said “no”, 66 stated “not applicable” We will continue to share this survey via text message and email with all those who attend an appointment.
We will continue to learn from these responses in order to shape the service into one that meets the needs of the local community.
