Speaker: Paul Connery, Archdiocese of Hartford
The complicated phases involved in the disposition of Church and Religious Institute-owned property
demand a rigorous attention to process and detail. Priority must be given to Civil and Canon law, proper
sacred article disposition, and achieving the maximum sale price; all done while honoring restrictions set
forth on adaptive reuse. This course will guide you through pastoral and strategic planning, property
marketing, and executing the closing of the real estate transaction.

Speaker: Kristine A. Kubes, Kubes Law Office, PLLC
This course will discuss the American Institute of Architects (“AIA”) design- and construction-related

Disposing of Church and Religious Institute Property: Archival Perspectives.
Speaker(s): Stephanie Jacobe, Archdiocese of Washington; Patrick Hayes, Redemptorist Archives of the
			 Baltimore Province
Religious and diocesan archives professionals have been quietly developing a set of best practices to assess,
acquire, catalog, and store the Catholica that remains in the wake of a closed or merged parish, or other
Religious Institute property. This includes everything from paper documents and photographs, to architec-
tural or artistic elements of physical structures. Often they do so with an eye to future use (repurposing) or
collection development within the archive, where researchers will have access to heritage materials that
                                                                                                                                continued on next page

Our Mission
The Conference for Catholic Facility Management (CCFM) provides a forum and a network for persons with responsibility
for diocesan or religious owned buildings and properties. The conference aims to promote the spiritual and personal
growth of its members in their specific ministry of serving the Church, and to foster the professional development of
each member through sharing the knowledge and experience of all members. In advocating high standards for its
members, both in personal conduct and in work performed, the Conference seeks to contribute to the effectiveness and
     growth of the church.
