MEN-TSEE-KHANG’S COVID-19 SERVICES May 2021 Counteract Response To COVID-19 (Estd. by the 13th Dalai Lama in 1916, Re-Estd. by the 14th Dalai Lama in 1961) M E N -T S E E - K H A N G ( S O WA - R I G PA ) Men-Tsee-Khang, with 59 branch clinics under it, has played an essential role as a healthcare provider responding to this pandemic in preventing and treating COVID-19 in the Tibetan community in exile and beyond. Since the early stages of the pandemic, Men-Tsee-Khang has carried out several works in preventing COVID-19. In collaboration with the CTA, MTK has provided immune boosters for over 25,000 Tibetans in high-risk categories, bearing one- third of the costs. The high-risk category includes those above age 65, those with hypertension or diabetes, volunteers and frontline health workers, those in quarantine, and Tibetans living abroad. The feedback for these immune boosters has been substantially positive; beneficiaries Our Doctor consulting COVID-19 patient at COVID care Centre have reported reduced stress and anxiety and improved appetite and sleep. Until March 31, 2021, Men-Tsee-Khang has treated 2,137 COVID-19 patients, and the response from the patients, Sorig clinicians, the CTA COVID-19 Task Force, and Tibetan media outlets has been overwhelmingly positive. Last year, MEET also designed a dietary and lifestyle guideline for the prevention of COVID-19, earning praise from both COVID-19 patients and private Sorig practitioners. The Research & Development Department has been collecting case questionnaires on COVID-19 patients who received Sowa-Rigpa treatment. Moreover, the department is currently designing a case series to study the efficacy of Sowa-Rigpa in preventing COVID-19. We hope to continue our efforts in combating this disease.
