Program Overview/Goals CHS Football utilizes a comprehensive model. This means that we need to address the entire individual in order to create a cohesive unit that can compete at a high level. Our football specific goal is to win the Ocean Division and CCS titles.
CHS Football daily approach to training • "This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes it will be gone FOREVER leaving in it's place something that you have traded for it. I want it to be a gain not a loss, good not evil, success not failure in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for it." • -Paul “Bear” Bryant
Organization • Running practices off of a detailed script. • Preparing on weekends so that weekdays involve learning and fine tuning. • Coaches have pre-determined responsibilities for weekdays and game days.
Strength and Conditioning with Coach Rado
What we do: • Provide a structured strength and conditioning program in conjunction with in season sports. • Charting and re-assessing strength and conditioning goals with players throughout the season and off season. • Rating the total athlete=Gains/Size/Speed
Teaching Servant Leadership
What we do: • Using specific lessons throughout the year, including but not limited to team bonding activities, to specifically teach players how to become better people and leaders in the community. • Bring in speakers from the community to direct these lessons. • Get out as a group and serve the community. Ex: St. Anthony’s.
Systems and Teaching • Installing a system that gives us the best chance to win. • Offense-Wing-T • Defense-Three Four multiple coverage. Attacking, deceptive scheme. • Coaching the techniques during the week to minimize Friday coaching. • Teaching safe and appropriate techniques.
Rules • I use what is called the “Do Right” rule off season. • “Optional but Expected” • One hard and fast rule relates to in season practices missed. 1 unexcused miss=1 half missed. • 2 unexcused missed=does not suit. • 1 excused=case by case • 2 excused=does not suit (safety issue.) • Other disciplinary issues on case by case.
