MEMBERSHIP 2021-2022 NANCY BABIS 1ST VICE PRESIDENT AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY DEPARTMENT OF NEW YORK
American Legion Auxiliary MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMEN • Encourage and support all unit, county, district membership chairman to attract and retain a diverse, active membership • Establish new units • Help units enhance membership experiences by including all members in activities, celebrations, and awareness of who we are, what we do and why we matter. • Join ALA membership Facebook group. DEPARTMENT UNIT AWARDS • 100% AWARDS – must have 12 members to be eligible for awards • 5 drawings of $100 each to units who reach 100% by the following dates: • Oct. 15, 2021 • Nov. 11, 2021 • 5 drawings of $75 each • Jan. 15, 2022 • 5 drawings of $50 each • March 11, 2022 • 5 drawings of $25 each • April 15, 2022

RENEWAL NOTICES • September 15, 2021 will be a mailed renewal • November 2021 will be an email reminder • January 2022 will be an email reminder • February 2022 will be a mailed renewal reminder. Remember all officers of all units, counties, and districts should have their dues paid by December 31, 2021.
HOW CAN YOU RENEW • Pay your unit membership chairman personally • Mail check with your renewal notice to Unit or National • Call National – 317-569-4570 Mon-Friday 8am-4:30pm EST. You can do multiple renewals this way – have member numbers handy • Online at WWW.ALAforveterans.org
ELIGIBILITY • A living current member of The American Legion - mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, granddaughter, spouse of a female veteran • If your veteran is deceased they did not have to belong to The American Legion for mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, granddaughters, spouses to join. They need to prove service between the dates of Apr. 6, 1917 – Nov. 11, 1918 or from Dec. 7, 1941 to current date. They also need to be honorably discharged.
SUGGESTIONS • Look back on old rosters and see who hasn’t rejoined/renewed. Try to locate them – call or send them renewal letter inviting them to rejoin. • Check your girl state candidates and see if they are eligible to join. • Hold membership event – a picnic, a brunch, set up at local farmers markets,
