May 24-28, 2021 Den Happenings Mission: Cultivating learners who apply skills and experiences to enrich society Vision: A recognized community of learners, where everyone has the voice, f reedom, and responsibility to create individual learning path Greetings Fox Families! I can't believe I am writing our last newsletter of the 2020-2021 school year. What an incredible year it has been! This year was full of “firsts'' for our staff, students and families. Many will remember this school year as the “pandemic year” or “year of COVID.” I like to think this year is when we were provided challenges like no other and we “improvised, adapted, and overcame” these challenges. Our teachers regardless of learning modality (full day face to face, hybrid and e- learning) had to adapt to the nuances each modality provided. They were challenged to teach and reach students in new ways and they not only rose to the challenge but exceeded at it. They embraced technology and infiltrated it into the classroom and curriculum in ways we haven’t seen before at a rapid pace. Most importantly we saw that regardless of the way in which our teachers taught they were able to connect and establish relationships with our students and families. Our students were and continue to be resilient. Our community was able to witness what we educators know about our students...they can adapt and adjust to whatever obstacles are thrown their way whether that be learning through a computer screen or six feet apart. They had a “new norm.” Our students showed up daily with a smile and positivity. They just wanted to learn, see their classmates, connect with their teacher(s), and be kids. Our students continue to amaze us every single day at their insightfulness and perspective on things. If there is one takeaway I learned this year to apply to the rest of my life it’s, let’s all be as resilient and adaptable as our educators and students. Thank you to our families for making this year as successful as it was and for your continued patience and flexibility! You have supported us unconditionally throughout this process and I am eternally grateful for your support. Thank you to our staff for their tenaciousness! Thank you to our students for your resiliency! I believe it is during our greatest challenges we display the most growth. This was a year of growth. To our families who are moving on after this year, best of luck on your future endeavors and thanks for being a part of our ACES journey. To all our families, have a restful, relaxing summer full of making memories (#makeitcount). We will see you next year!
