CLPL Intro-to-Trades programs give teens hands-on experience & real life skills! p. 3 March & April 2023 Program Guide
Director’s Desktop: Library is Buzzing with New Programs W e hope you celebrate everything your Crystal Lake Public Library has to offer every week, but especially during National Library Week! This year, the American Library Association celebrates libraries from April 23-29 with the theme “There’s More to the Story.” Everyone knows the library is the best place to find your next favorite book, but do you know how much your library really has to offer? We have lots of non-traditional library programs for all ages this spring. ADULTS – Solitary bees like mason bees are some of the biggest pollinators. One solitary bee can do the work of 100 honeybees! Check out our series on solitary bees, The Buzz about Mason Bees on March 7; Native Pollinators on March 15; and Build a Bee Home on March 25 or March 28. Need a new tote bag to carry all your library materials? Sign up for Sewing 101 on Thursdays March 16, 23, and 30. You’ll learn the basics of sewing while you create a useful tote bag. TEENS – Gamers should check out VR Mania on March 9 and come to the Teen Mario Party on April 23. If you haven’t been to one of our Intro to Trades sessions, yet, I highly recommend the next one, Next Step Home Electricity on Executive Director Becky Fyolek March 18. This program offers interesting, hands-on learning that you can actually apply in the real world. KIDS – Want to learn how to sew and spend time with your favorite grownup? Sign up for Maker Academy: We Sew, Simple Hand Stitch on March 7 and April 11. Gamers can celebrate their love of Mario at the Mario Kart Party and Tournament on April 22. No hard feelings if you get hit with the blue shell! ALL AGES – May the Fourth Be with You! Join us May 4 for our Star Wars Board of Library Trustees Celebration. This is an all-ages event with crafts, games, and activities. William Weller, President Costumes are encouraged!
