We have been recognizing and celebrating Nowruz this week getting ready for the New Year and the start of Spring. Nelli and Grace have been sharing the Seven S’s over the PA announcements this week - The Seven S’s over the announcements Tweet. The holiday is set for March 20th, 2022 while we are on Spring Break and Nika, Atrin and Baran from Grade 5 want to wish everyone a Happy Nowruz - Happy Nowruz from Grade 5 girls Tweet. Thank you to our Persian parent community for the display and Haft-sin table set up! Students are welcome to dress up in their formal wear if they wish to mark the occasion.
SECOND TERM CSL REPORTS POSTED TO MYED FAMILY PORTAL TOMORROW Tomorrow, Friday, March 11th, your child’s Communicating Student Learning (CSL) Report will be published to the MyEd Family Portal as a PDF (will be located on the right-hand side of the page under “Published Reports”). We suggest that you try to log into your account prior to Friday to ensure that you are ready and have access to it for when the reports are published. If you have forgotten your password, simply use your login and click on “forgot password”, and you should receive another temporary one (check your spam/junk folder if you do not receive it). All term CSL reports, ELL reports and IEP reports will be posted on the Family Portal for the 2021/22 school year until July 31, 2022. Paper copies will not be sent home so It is strongly recommended that you print and/or save your child’s reports to your computer as a PDF if you want to maintain access to it. A reminder that there are many resources and a FAQ section on the district site HERE. Should you require further assistance, please email Mrs. Lytle (slytle@wvschools.ca), but please note that the office is closed during Spring Break. RAPID ANTIGEN TEST KITS – PICK UP INFORMATION (GR K-7) The school has now received the rapid antigen test kits for students. We are asking parents/guardians to pick up their child’s test kit from school as per the below schedule. Each student will receive one kit (which contains 5 tests); therefore, if you have two children at the school, you will pick up two kits. Information on when to use the rapid antigen tests can be found HERE, and instructions on how to use the at home kit can be found HERE. As always, for more information, please refer to the BCCDC website. Pick up will be at the east undercover area across from the portables. Pickup dates/times are as follows: • Thursday, March 10th from 2:30 – 3:00pm • Friday, March 11th from 8:15 – 9:00am TEXT MESSAGING – FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE NOTIFIED OF A SCHOOL EMERGENCY VIA SMS (GR K-7) If you did not receive a text message from School Messenger on Tuesday please text a “Y” or “Yes” to 978338 to ensure you are on the list. MOVING? CHANGING SCHOOLS? (GR K-6) It is very important to inform us if you know your child(ren) will NOT be returning to Ridgeview in September for the 2022/23 school year. Please email Mrs. Lytle (slytle@wvschools.ca) as soon as possible as it is important for us to have accurate information regarding enrollment for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your cooperation. THE CARD PROJECT (GR K-7) The children made amazing art for this exciting fundraiser! Orders open Monday, March 28. Look out for your child’s greeting card coming home after spring break. Every child’s card is unique. The front showcases their own art with their name and grade printed on the back. You can order professionally printed greeting cards,
notebooks, digital prints, stretched canvasses and now, canvas tote bags, mugs and tea towels. From March 28, you can see your child’s art and place an order online at: www.TheCardProject.ca. ORDERS are due by Sunday, April 10 for delivery in the week of April 25-29 – in time for Mother’s Day! This is a wonderful fundraising opportunity for our school. We receive 20% of the sales. WVS IGNITE YOUR PASSION (IYP) PROGRAMS ARE OPEN FOR REGISTRATION Ignite Your Passion (IYP) is a series of non-credit programs designed to spark the interests of students, Grades 3-8, through participation, experimentation, and connection. HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE HONOUR CHOIR PROGRAM IN WV SCHOOLS? Do you love to sing and to perform music with others at the highest level possible? If so, the WV Schools’ Honour Choir Program is an exciting opportunity for you. Honour Choir is a district-wide program that extends the music learning of our students through choral music. The Honour Choirs are open to students who will be in Grade 6/7 (Junior Honour Choir) and Grades 8-12 (Treble and Mixed Honour Choir). WVS RUGBY ACADEMY Have you ever thought about playing Rugby?! The West Vancouver Schools Rugby Academy is fortunate to have Curry Hitchborn, the UBC Mens’ Rugby Team Head Coach, as our lead instructor in this exciting program. All genders and skill levels are encouraged to participate as students learn both individual skills and tactical game play in a fun, collaborative, and safe environment (there is no tackling in the Academy program). The Rugby Academy is for students in grades 8 through 12 and takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 3pm at Ambleside E turf. One way bus transportation is provided from all three West Vancouver Secondary schools and during the winter months, the Rugby Academy students also partake in some indoor cross training activities. For further information on the Academy, please follow the link: https://westvancouverschools.ca/academies/rugby REGISTRATION FOR 2022-23 Registration for the 2022-23 school year is now open for all grades. The online registration application can be found here. After submitting the online application, all required admissions documents are to be sent
electronically (scan/email good quality PDF copies) to your first choice school. If your child is already attending Ridgeview, you do not need to reapply for the next school year. If your child is currently in Grade 7 and your first choice high school is West Vancouver Secondary School, you are not required to complete this online application (regardless of where you live). However, if your first choice for secondary school is somewhere other than West Vancouver Secondary School (i.e. Sentinel or Rockridge), you must complete an online application here. NEXT MEETING: TBA @ 7PM RPAC RPAC Facebook HOT LUNCH PROGRAM 2021/22 – SPRING SESSION UPDATE We’re ready to kick off another session of hot lunch ordering. Munch a Lunch is now open for orders. The first order for spring session is Monday, March 28th. To place an order for this date, you must do so on Munch a Lunch by March 20th. Please remember there is an 8 day cut-off to place or edit your order. Once that cut-off has passed, no changes can be made. General Information: The hot lunch offering during the spring session includes the following: Monday- Domino’s Pizza Tuesday- Presto Catering Wednesday- Subway Thursday- White Spot Friday- Domino’s Pizza The hot lunch program at Ridgeview is one of the RPAC's biggest fundraisers. The funds are used for a variety of projects that benefit our kids. COMMUNITY 2022 STUDENT VIDEO CONTEST – EVERY DROP COUNTS Film a 60 to 90 second video about the importance of conserving our high-quality tap water. The contest is open to student from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in West Vancouver. Submission deadline is April 18th. Contest details and how to enter can be found HERE.
