M.A.R.S. 2018 INTRODUCTION As we leave the 20th century behind and rush toward the future on the wings of rapid scientific progress, the basic structure of the world is re-emerging. What we perceive as "reality" is being re-ordered in a fundamentally new way where, according to quantum physics, matter can both exist and not exist simultaneously. Plato’s Allegory of the Cave describes people shackled together in a cave staring at the shadows on the wall and believing it to be their only reality. The human race now stands at a crossroads in that cave; on the one hand, shackled by our ignorance and age-old assumptions, and on the other, embracing the advances of our newfound technological age. Although our human senses limit our ability to understand our true reality, we still have to try. This is where science can intervene to help us by allowing us to see a brighter, more colorful picture of our world by providing tools that can help us find a greater truth. Scientific experiments, formulas, calculations, and debates are no different than a musician's instrument, or an artist's pen; they all help us to see the world in a fundamentally different way. As science seeks to better our understanding of the world, music and art allow us to express how our rapidly evolving reality affects us as humans. This is the mission of M.A.R.S. 2018: To explore this new vision by combining science and technology with the expression of music and art.
TO THE TENTH DIMENSION In the case of high-dimensional entangled quantum states being teleported through a single channel, M.A.R.S. functions as the observer, the channel, and the universe itself. In doing this, M.A.R.S. reconstructs the chronology of the cosmos through the use of arts, music, and visual projections. MULTIVERSE M.A.R.S. 2018 LOS ANGELES The Multiverse is a collection of theoretically limited possible universes whose existences are known mostly as parallel universes. With each measurement or observation, a new and independent universe is produced unlike the previous. Universes are all individual, yet are somehow still connected at every moment. As M.A.R.S. comes to Los Angeles, which is already a multicultural energy source endlessly overlapping itself, the question remains; what kinds of nested strings will collide in our landscape? The answer; All. The Future of Global Music & Arts Exploration

OCT. 6 MULTIVERSE (PART I) WITH JESSE GILBERT AND MIGUEL ATWOOD-FERGUSON The depth and range of Atwood-Ferguson’s work is vast, having contributed to over 500 recordings, and thousands of live concerts. He has a rare gift as well as a serious devotion and dedication to continuing the development of his talents. Atwood-Ferguson effortlessly bridges diverse genres and multiple generations of musical and cultural elements into cohesive and magical presentations. And it’s his ability to connect with music of all styles, forms, and traditions that sets him apart. Miguel’s interests are numerous and he performs, tours and records with ensembles ranging from electronica, avant-garde, jazz, classical, hip-hop, and pop to name a few from countries all around the world.
OCT. 7 MULTIVERSE (PART II) WITH JESSE GILBERT AND MIGUEL ATWOOD-FERGUSON If there are an infinite number of universes in the Multiverse, somewhere there is a place where almost everything is identical to our current universe. For example, there may be another ‘you’ who is only different in the slightest ways, possibly working in a different industry. Or perhaps, there are a lot of ‘you’ doing all kinds of work. M.A.R.S. LA brings this final scene into a multiverse scenario.

ARRIVAL M.A.R.S. 2018 SHANGHAI As humans, we have always expressed a deep fascination with ourselves. We study our own history, psychology, philosophy, and deities. Along with the extensive studies of our own culture, humans continue to create new forms of art, music, and technology to advance ourselves in so many ways. Much of our knowledge centers around ourselves as if we are the essence of the universe. At one time, people thought the earth was flat, and the world was a static center. There was also a time that we once imagined the universe was a tiny and stagnant place. However, from quarks, black holes, photons, and space fluctuations to the newly discovered gravitational waves, quantum physics opens up a window for all of us. As we grow into adulthood, we learn that the world is no longer just a bedroom and a playground. Through the concept of infinite possibilities, we embrace the fact that a grain of sand can be just as vast as the sky. Now, after roaming Berlin and Los Angeles, the final stop for M.A.R.S. is Shanghai, China. The Future of Global Music & Arts Exploration

THE NEO FUTURIST DINNER CHROMATIC DINING An Exclusive Multisensorial Immersive Dining Experience with Martin Butler, Alexander Gershberg Five senses, five course Following the logic of sense, this dining experience challenges the way food influences our emotions, sensations, thoughts, and associations. The five-course chromatic dinner is inspired by the ideas of Kandinskys' principles of Klangfarben, and the influence of the Chinese five elements: Tree, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water. Each course is created in accordance with the color and underlying principles of each element and is designed with a different taste, smell, texture, and sound to create a five-course chromatic dining experience. Quoting synesthesia, a perceptual condition in which the stimulation of one sense triggers an automatic, involuntary experience.
THE NEO FUTURIST DINNER CHROMATIC DINING DETAILS Before each course is served, NATURAL COLOR enhancing glasses are given out, which are created specifically for each course. The glasses are a contrasting color to their respective dishes and are also worn before each dish is served. When the glasses are removed, the color of the food becomes naturally enhanced. For each course, guests are given a perfumed cone. Each course has a different scent which evokes a different color. (M.A.R.S. is currently in an exclusive collaboration with a perfume company to offer exclusively designed perfume to accompany this dinner event.) All the dishes are created with their respective scent as their main ingredient. As the aroma of each dish grows stronger, the monochromatic experience begins to take effect. PROMETHEUS M.A.R.S. 2018 BERLIN According to the most insightful predictions regarding the fate of our universe, all matter, space, and time will eventually collapse into a dimensionless singularity. Apparently, this will be an event that transforms the universe into its original state prior to the Big Bang. In addition, humanity and the technology we have spawned will cease to exist altogether. Keeping this in mind, Berlin, as the first stop of M.A.R.S. 2018, will also be the end as well as the beginning to something new. The result? An infinitely passionate reality. FOUNDED IN LOS ANGELES 2017 M.A.R.S. is a progressive music and arts festival that connects musicians, artists, and audiences through the means of virtual reality – merging and blurring the geographical realities of its three arts capital cities: Berlin - Los Angeles - Shanghai. Through carefully curated and hand-picked events, M.A.R.S. expands the musical imagination by blurring the borders between music and other applied arts. The Future of Global Music & Arts Exploration
Through technology, human beings are more connected on a global level than ever before. M.A.R.S. was born out of a need for a globally interactive and artistic platform, where everyone is welcome, and various arts can be paired and explored with one another on a grand scale. M.A.R.S. offers insight into art reflecting the swooshing tempos of today - left, right, up and down. This insight is possible through advanced new technologies of virtual reality, artificial intelligence, plus creative and interactive programming as we aim to give performance art a new spin. The artists involved choose a concept and theme that will govern their collaborative processes and foster a more comprehensive array of interests for audiences than artists of a usual contemporary music festival. Visual art, film, fashion, and performance will bring an understanding and conceptualization of music to a higher level of awareness for both the performers and the audience.
