UK CAPACITY DEBATE • Heathrow selected for a third runway • Now need for a National Policy Framework – set a long term vision for UK aviation sector • Stansted provides capacity for 20mppa of growth before a Heathrow runway opens – must be a short term priority for Government • Our focus is on improving rail access and removing planning restrictions to enable full use of Stansted’s runway - New Abellio rail franchise will deliver new Stansted Express trains by 2019 and increased service to Cambridge - West Anglia Rail Taskforce calling for reducing journey times to London to 40 minutes and earlier trains to the airport - Aim to submit a planning application to serve up to 43 mppa next year Working closely with regional partners inc. LSCC and corporates to attract long haul connectivity
