Lockington Consolidated School Principal’s Report James and I had the pleasure of attending the State Wide Leadership Confer- ence in Melbourne on Monday and Tuesday. We were very impressed by the quality of professional development that was presented. We will share with staff and put into practice at LCS. We went to a workshop on parent engage- ment. Research shows this is one of the strongest predictors of children’s Term 2 Week 7 success in both school and life. We also attended a very inspirational work- Thursday 6th June 2019 shop on student voice. We are excited to develop these things in the future. Congratulations to James Brentnall who travelled to St Arnaud to compete in lockington.cs@edumail.vic.gov.au the regional cross country. He came 29th place. We are super proud of him! www.lockington.vic.edu.au Phone 03 54862474 WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK! We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing, and quality instruction, and are conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school. The Attitudes to School Survey is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's schooling experience. Students from Year 4 to 6 at our school will participate in the survey. Your child will complete the survey online during school hours using a purpose built secure online survey tool. It is important to note that we are not in any way “testing” your child. Your child has the right to refuse or withdraw from the survey at any point before, during, or after completion of the survey. Your child will be provided with a unique login to complete the survey. The student login is an assigned identifier that may be used to link data for statistical and research purposes only. All responses to the survey are kept anonymous in the response file. Personal identification data will not be recorded in the survey response file. This ensures that the confidentiality of your child’s responses is protected at all times. The survey only takes up to 20 minutes to complete and occurs during your child's class time. The survey results will be reported back to the school before the end of Our Grade 5/6 Bike Education program is term 2. All survey data that is made available in reports are for groups of continuing and proving very beneficial students only so that no individual student can be identified. Data suppression rules are used for schools with low student numbers per year with students learning lots of new skills. level. During the previous campaign, we were able to purchase some great resources with the points we earned, thanks to you. From now until June 25th 2019, you can collect stickers at Woolworths that go towards Earn & Learn points. For every $10 you spend at Woolworths (excluding the purchase of tobacco, liquor and gift cards), you will receive a sticker. These stickers can then be given to your children to collect on a special sticker sheet. Once it is completed, they can simply bring it back here to school or you can drop them into your local Woolworths collection box. The more points we earn, the more we can redeem from a choice of over 10,000 educational resources including mathematics and English resources, art & crafts materials and much, much more! We are grateful for your support and look forward to a successful program. If you have any questions, please ask at School.
Sports News Echuca Netball Tournament Last week four teams from LCS competed at the Echuca Netball Tournament. It was great day had by all with each team playing at least 6 Games each against other schools in the Campaspe Region. All of our students should be proud of the way in which they represented themselves and our school. It was great to see 2 of our teams winning their division. Thank you to Kerryn, Jacinta, Emily, Meaghan and Carmel for helping out on the day and supplying the lollies! And thanks to all those who were able to cheer the teams at the event. Thank you also to the EDNA for coordinating the day. Betty and her team did a fabulous job with the draw, coordinating umpires, trophies and results. It was great day and provided the opportunity for over 600 students from our region to be involved and thank you to the 55 umpires from our secondary schools. Regional Cross Country Well done to James B who competed at the Regional Cross Country held in St Arnaud on Tuesday. James ran in the 3km event and should be very proud of his efforts and achievements. James finished in 29th position overall in what was a fantastic effort. Lockington Auskick Last weekend our local Auskick participants took to the footy oval at the MCG. During the half time break the kids got to play a game , alongside many other Auskickers from around the state. What a tremendous experience.
