For More Information Contact: Lindsay Henderson (508) 375-6889 lhenderson@capelightcompact.org PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release: May 14, 2018 LIMITED-TIME INCREASE IN REFRIGERATOR AND FREEZER RECYCLING REBATE South Yarmouth, MA – Starting May 14, 2018 through June 15, 2018 only, Cape Light Compact, your local Mass Save® Sponsor, will offer a $100 rebate to residential and small business electric customers who sign up to recycle an old refrigerator or freezer through their recycling program. This limited-time offer provides customers with double the traditional rebate amount of $50 per unit. While replacing an old, inefficient refrigerator or freezer – or removing an extra unit you no longer need – can often be a hassle, Cape Light Compact provides a convenient solution. Customers can schedule a pickup online at www.capelightcompact.org or by phone at 1-877-889-4761, and an authorized vendor will pick up the unit at no-cost. The vendor will remove the unit for you – so you’ll avoid the strain of moving a large, bulky appliance – and will ensure it is safely and responsibly recycled. Customers that schedule a pickup during the limited-time promotion period will receive a $100 rebate in the mail. * To be eligible for this offer, units must be between 10 and 30 cubic feet, and must be plugged in, clean, and working when the vendor arrives. Customers must provide a clear path for removal, and an adult age 18 or older must be present at pickup Although customers that schedule a pickup after the promotion period will still be eligible for the standard $50 rebate, only those that call to schedule or signup online during the promotion timeframe are eligible for the $100 rebate. Cape Light Compact will provide a rebate on up to two units per residential or commercial electric account per calendar year, and customers cannot combine rebates with any other energy efficiency offer. Taking advantage of this limited-time offer is a great way to start off the summer with some added savings. Old refrigerators and freezers use significantly more energy than new, ENERGY STAR® certified models, whereas secondary units that are no longer needed are a continual energy drain. This simple, no-cost program brought to you by Cape Light Compact provides an easy way to eliminate this energy waste, so you can save money and clear up space without struggling to remove your unit. Plus, participating in this program ensures your unit will be disposed of responsibly. Over 95% of materials that make up your unit – such as copper, steel, glass, and plastic – will be recycled, instead of ending up in a landfill. Additionally, all potentially hazardous components, including refrigerant, oil, and mercury, will be safely handled for appropriate reuse or disposal. Don’t miss this opportunity to jumpstart your summer savings, spruce up your home, and protect the environment. Schedule your pickup today, before this limited-time offer ends! *Units must also be picked up by July 31, 2018 to be eligible for the $100 rebate.
