We have safe and fun spaces for families, friendlies, queer kinds and groupies to lead us into the evening of T Dance, featuring a fantastic line-up of sassy sounds and DJs. Midsumma Carnival is a glass-free event and we’re conscious of our footprint on the environment (and the grass). So, bring your sustainable vessels and reusable straws. Signature Events #midsumma Midsumma Pride March LOUD & PROUD Fluff up those feather boas and put out your rainbow flags as we march with pride and solidarity through the streets of St Kilda! Midsumma Pride March brings us together to stand tall, be proud, and revel in the celebrations with family, friends, and allies. This year, Midsumma Pride March will highlight the diverse humans, personalities, groups, sexualities, and experiences that make our queer communities so beautifully colourful. Everyone deserves to march, and everyone deserves to be heard, to feel safe, and to belong. We will remember that we are stronger as one and greater together! Dykes on Bikes precede the marching contingent as per tradition, with the march itself led by Boon Wurrung Elders and a Rainbow Aboriginal Float, LGBTQIA+ youth and followed by the Premier of Victoria, Minister for Equality and the Creative Industries and Commissioner for Gender and Sexuality. Rock up, frock up and fly your flags from 11am, as we embark on the kilometre-long fanfare along Fitzroy St, waving to the new Victorian Pride Centre, and into Catani Gardens for an afternoon of post-Pride festivities. Signature Events #midsumma Melbourne Pride Image by Tanya McCulloch A Road to Pride Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Victoria Melbourne Pride is a State Government initiative, delivered by festival partner Midsumma (of course!), to commemorate 40 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Victoria. Melbourne Pride will be a full day of celebrations, with the streets of Fitzroy flickering in rainbow as we acknowledge the courage and resilience of our LGBTQIA+ community, celebrate the history, and build on the momentum for equality. Melbourne Pride will showcase live performances, music, circus, speakers, activities, community stalls and interactive demonstrations. Street traders and local businesses will welcome us all with open arms and showcase all the fabulous things Yarra has to offer! This commemorative event is intended to have a significant statewide impact with a livestream of the event celebrations. Celebrated far and wide, the statewide event will include activations and events across regional areas and every corner of Victoria leading up to the Melbourne Pride city-based street party event with contributions also captured and shared across the digital platform (see website for regional event details).
