Your Marketing and Promotion Ideas – Update Thanks for all the new fresh ideas and thoughts coming forward to the President following his appeal in last month’s newsletter. In no particular order of significance the following thoughts have been volunteered of how patronage of the Club and use of its facilities could be further enjoyed by us all. Like minded members might like to further their hobbies and interests by meeting and congregating in the Club around the following interests: Board Games – Mah Jong, Scrabble or Chess Wine Club with regular tastings, outside visits etc Theatre and shows – a group which might coordinate their attendance and enjoyment of music, plays, operas etc. Great shows frequently play at the Broadway Theatre Palmerston North, Southwards Auditorium in Paraparaumu plus all the local Levin/Foxton/Otaki gigs Travel Group for those who want to share experiences, compare notes, offer advice on both domestic and offshore places. Perhaps even to tour together themselves Craft Beer/Home Brew Group – sample/experiment/taste or just talk!! Computer Group – for like minded members to share knowledge/games/sites etc Classic/Vintage Vehicles and Memorabilia Group – share stories/swap meet visits/car parades etc or just talk! Collectors Group – for everyone that collects “things”, i.e.: model toys/trains, beer coasters, cigarette cards, dolls, books, whatever Another suggestion includes an annual Cossie Club Ball (Dine and Dance or Cabaret) old time music, ball gowns, tuxedos, just like we used to in the sixties and seventies! Please keep the ideas coming and discuss amongst yourselves in the meantime and we will update further next month. We believe all of these ideas have great merit and very worthy of more thought and your feedback please. Dress Code Reminder While management and staff have been extremely understanding (and flexible) over the recent hot, hot weather, the Club does have minimum dress standards and especially in the Restaurant (guys- no singlets, nor most sleeveless or collarless shirts). Management directions on dress attire and footwear standards is final and not negotiable and is supported by the Executive Committee. Please avoid the risk of embarrassment by wearing appropriate attire at all times in the Club. Thanks everyone, Happy Clubbing 2 www.levincossieclub.co.nz

Fishing Club News On 4th February 2018, 12 Club members went to Mana and got on the Wellington charter boat and went to the south end of Kapiti. Although the first hour was very slow the next 5 hours it was all on, and we ended up catching about 20/30 Snapper, 20/30 Terakihi and 20/30 Kahawai. Joe Trevethick caught the biggest snapper with Brian Cummings catching the most snapper. Many thanks to Tony Jones, Joe, Stu, Royce, Gary and Bing as they filleted all the fish. A great day and a great bunch of blokes. Captain Pug Wash Seniors Adjunct The month of February was a quiet one with 4 regular club days at home, but no trips away or visits by other clubs. Attendance at our club days was good with a few new members participating in activities. March 7th we entertained a group of 15 from the Castlecliff Club playing bowls, cards and pool with an afternoon tea served at 2.45pm. The result, of course, was declared a draw, we have a few of these! We get to make a return visit to Castlecliff on 27th September, where I’m sure we’ll get a result. March 21st is a fun day out to Wanganui including morning tea at The Woolshed Café, lunch at the Wanganui Cossie Club and a visit to a glassblowing factory after lunch. (See Fred or Annette to book a place on the bus). March 14th & 28th are regular club days at home with Housie played on both days, so come along and have some fun. Good Health. 4 www.levincossieclub.co.nz
