What is FOGO

               FOGO is the weekly
               collection and
               processing of food
               scraps, organic
               garden material, and
               other compostable
               items.

               These will be turned
               into compost, instead
               of valuable food waste
               being taken to landfill.

What doesn’t go in any kerbside bin?

• Household Hazardous
  Waste (HHW) can
  contain chemicals or
  substances harmful to
  people and the
  environment.
• These items cannot be
  placed in any of your
  kerbside bins and
  must instead be taken
  to an appropriate
  disposal facility.
• Visit the City’s website
  for details of where you
  can drop off these
  items.

Recycling Batteries, Globes and Mobile
Phones

                       • Household batteries and
                         fluorescent light tubes contain
                         non-renewable and potentially
                         harmful materials making them
                         unsafe to place in your
                         everyday rubbish bin.
                       • Mobile phones have many
                         useful recyclable components.
                       • Residents can dispose of these
products safely at one of eight
                         recycling stations around the
                         City.
                       • Please visit the City’s website
for details of what can be
                         dropped off at each location.
Recycling Soft Plastics

                  • Plastic bags cannot go in your
                    recycling bin, as they become
entangled in the machinery at the
                    material recovery facility.
                  • However, plastic bags and other soft
plastic items can be taken to major
                    supermarkets for recycling.
                  • Look for the REDcycle collection bin
at the front of the store.

Recycling Clothing

                     • Clothing and other good quality
                       household items that are not
                       stained, damaged or broken can
                       be donated to charity shops.
                     • “If you wouldn’t give it to a mate,
                       don’t donate”
                     • Visit giv.org.au to find a charity
                       drop-off point near you.
                     • If the charity bin is full, please don’t
dump unwanted items next to the
                       bin. This illegal dumping costs
                       charities thousands every year, to
                       lawfully dispose of the dumped
                       items.
