SPEAKERS Nate Kamban - Leadership Myth Busters: Debunking Common Leadership Myths Nate Kamban serves as the Superintendent for the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities where he has the opportunity to partner alongside individuals with developmental disabilities and community stakeholders to advocate for a more inclusive community. Nate previously served as the agency’s Transitional Assistant Superintendent and Community Relations/Special Projects Coordinator. Before commencing his career with the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Nate had the privilege of working directly with individuals with disabilities in various parts of Sub-Saharan Africa as the Project Manager for the Africa Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Disability Project financed by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and World Vision International. Nate holds BA degrees in International Studies and French from the University of Mount Union, along with an MA degree from the University of Pittsburgh in International Development and Environmental Sustainability. Jamie Rosenberger - Your Image Counts... Even on Social Media Jamie Rosenberger is a Senior Product Manager at Allied Machine and Engineering Corporation where she manages the strategic direction for the growth of cutting tool product lines used in the manufacturing industry. In 2005, Jamie graduated from Kent State University Tuscarawas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology with a focus on Mechanical Engineering. After continuing her education, in 2014, Jamie earned a Master of Education for Instructional Technology with magna cum laude honors from Kent State University to apply corporate training in her role at Allied Machine. She has worked at Allied Machine for 16 years and has participated in the Young Women In Engineering at Kent State Tuscarawas event for the past 15 years. Jamie and her family live on a horse farm in Carrollton where she enjoys horseback riding and golfing in her free time. Eric Harmon- The Path to Purpose Eric Harmon is currently serving as a City Councilman in Uhrichsville where he advocates for increased economic development, robust infrastructure, cleaner neighborhoods, and fiscal responsibility. Eric was recently elected to Uhrichsville City Council and took office in January of 2018 as Ohio’s youngest office holder at the age of 19. Born and raised in Uhrichsville, Eric is a proud graduate of Claymont High School. He is currently studying political science as a junior at Kent State University at Stark in North Canton. Eric is a member of the Clayland Lions Club, Twin City Chamber of Commerce, Tuscarawas County Democratic Party, Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church, and also serves as the secretary of the Claymont Foundation. He was awarded the West Point Leadership Award and was also twice invited to attend Propel Ohio with United States Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman to discuss issues of poverty, education, and economic development. Tara Schie - Fearlessly Pursuing Your Passion Tara Schie is the Executive Chef and General Manager at SHY Cellars in Strasburg, Ohio. She went to school for Mechanical Engineering, and in 2012 she decided to leave her engineering career and schooling behind, to help open SHY Cellars with her family. Tara most recently won Grand Champion at the Akron Canton Food Bank’s, “Taste of the Pro Football Hall of Fame” last September. She then got the chance to participate in the national “Taste of the NFL” in Atlanta that coincided with Super Bowl 53 with over 35 of the nation’s top chefs and NFL greats. With an award winning team behind her, SHY Cellars has won numerous awards at the local level, including Reader’s Choice awards for Best Steak, Best Fine Dining, Best Dining Experience, Best Dessert, and Best Romantic Restaurant over the years. When she isn't in the kitchen, Tara serves on the executive board at the Tuscarawas Arts Partnership. Tuscarawas County has so many talented artists and she wants to play an active role in helping the arts thrive. Aubrey Gealsha - P's Are Good for You Aubrey Gealsha is a Graphic Arts Instructor at Buckeye Career Center, where she shares her knowledge of design from her 10+ years of experience. In 2017, Aubrey obtained her Master of Education in Instruction Design Technology, 2010 Bachelors of Science in Computer Design from Kent State University. She was also a graduate of Buckeye Career Center where her passion for design started. Aubrey is an active member of #livetusc where you might see her LiveTusc Live videos on their social media. She is also an active member of the local art scene where her work can be seen at the Tuscarawas Center for the Arts, Alley Cats Market Place and Art on the Alley. She has been a local Yoga instructor for over 8 years and currently teaches at the Tuscarawas YMCA. Aubrey resides in New Philadelphia. Orvis Campbell - Leading Every Day Orvis Campbell is proudly serving his first term as sheriff of Tuscarawas County. Sheriff Campbell began his service to the County in 1990 as a probation officer for Tuscarawas County Juvenile Court Judge George J. Demis. In 1994, Campbell was hired as a Deputy Sheriff and was promoted to Detective in 1997, and then worked his way up through several ranks as an investigator before being elected Sheriff in November of 2016. He also is an instructor for the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy and is a member of the International Homicide Investigators Association, and a graduate of the 256th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Campbell is active in the community as a member of the Tuscarawas County Anti-Drug Coalition and a board member for United Way of Tuscarawas County. Sheriff Campbell is a proud supporter and member of the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau. He is a former board member for Harbor House, the county's domestic violence shelter and substance abuse halfway house for women, and Personal and Family Counseling Services as well as the ADAMHS Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties. Sheriff Campbell was proudly voted Ohio’s outstanding Law Enforcement Officer for 2018 by the Ohio Prosecuting Attorney’s Association. Campbell is a lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, he and his wife Michelle have four children. #LOT2020
WORKSHOPS "To Serve or Not to Serve" Chad Conrad To serve, or not to serve—If you’re going to be a leader, service is part of the journey. Are you going down the right path? Chad Conrad is director of advancement at Kent State University at Tuscarawas. His responsibilities include fund development and alumni relations for the Tuscarawas campus. Prior to his appointment at Kent State Tuscarawas, Conrad was the executive director of the American Red Cross – Muskingum Lakes Chapter, a position he held for 16 years. Conrad is a member of community organizations, including the New Philadelphia Kiwanis, the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce Business Retention and Expansion Committee, Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Community Relations Committee and Leadership Tuscarawas Alumni. Conrad earned a Master of Business Administration from Ashland University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Kent State University. He and his wife, Janet, have three sons and reside in Bolivar. "Motivation: Do I Have it in Me?" Dr. Denise McEnroe-Petitte Come and learn how motivation can assist you with your goals and dreams for now and in the future. Denise McEnroe-Petitte began her nursing journey in 1978 when she graduated from Akron City Hospital Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing, and then went on to get an AS and then BSN from Kent State University in 1982 and 1983 respectively. She obtained an MSN from the University of Akron in 1990, and then a PhD in Education with a specialization in Nursing Education in 2014. She has worked as a nurse in many settings and at many levels. She has taught at Kent State University Tuscarawas for 23 years, where she works in an Associate Degree Nursing Program, teaching in the second year of the program and focusing on Medical-Surgical nursing content. In addition, she teaches an online course for the RN-BSN nursing program. "What's in Your Bucket?" Cathleen Misko This workshop offers the opportunity to reflect on personal values, goals and dreams to be part of a Life List (aka “Bucket List”) which may also include a Personal Mission Statement. Cathleen Misko is an adjunct faculty member at Kent State University Tuscarawas, a yoga/tai chi instructor, wife and mother of six children. She has earned her graduate and undergraduate degrees at Kent State University. She enjoys spending time with her family and the adventure of checking items off her Life List. "How You Can Take a Role in Addressing the Climate Crisis" Randi Pokladnik Learn the science behind the climate crisis and find some ways you can help address this major issue facing your generation. Randi Pokladnik, Ph.D. is a retired research chemist. She works as a freelance writer and volunteers as a science consultant for the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition. She also sits on the Board of Directors of Freshwater Accountability Project and Ohio River Citizens Alliance. She has received many awards for her activism and volunteer work, including the 2018 Fractivist of the Year Award and Outstanding Alumni for Eastern Gateway Community College for 2018. Her passions include preserving the woodland species of the Appalachian forests and educating the public about environmental issues. "All Stressed Out and No Place to Go" Natalie Bollon Stress comes at us from all different places and each of us internalize stress in different ways. This workshop will talk about stress and how to control it before it controls you. Natalie Bollon is the Executive Director of the Alcohol, Drug Addiction, Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties. The ADAMHS Board is statutorily charged with ensuring residents have a continuum of care that meets both their mental health and substance abuse needs. Natalie Bollon received her undergraduate degree from John Carroll University and her Master’s Degree from Purdue University. She began her career as a therapist before moving to the ADAMHS Board in 2008. Natalie is an active member of various community organizations including Family and Children First Council; the Addiction Task Force; the Anti-Drug Coalition; and AccessTusc among others. She lives in New Philadelphia and keeps busy with her three children. #LOT2020
