EMPOWER Encourage students to build relationships with their instructors by: • Participating in class. • Talking with professors after class. • Visiting during office hours. Students should spend three hours studying for every hour they spend in class. That means a student taking 12 credits should be studying 36 hours a week. EMPOWER Are you ready for your student to come home for winter break? Talk to your student and set expectations about the transition back home. College exams are a new — and possibly stressful and anxiety- producing — experience for students. Encourage your student to connect with the Andersen Library. They offer activities, including visits from pet therapy dogs, to help with finals stress: library.uww.edu DID YOU KNOW? The Financial Literacy Center is a free service that offers information and resources to students for managing their personal finances. They are located in Hyer Hall room 112. December 2021 Soloists, all are music majors at UW-Whitewater, perform for the audience at the annual Gala Holiday Dinner, Concert and Silent Auction, which funds scholarships for music students.

EMPOWER If students plan to travel over the break, make sure they travel with others, give you the specifics of their itinerary and create a communication plan. Career and Leadership Development hosts an annual Make a Difference Day in April. This includes a day of service in Janesville and one in Whitewater. Each project lasts around three hours and transportation is provided to and from Janesville. April 2022 Encourage your student to participate!
