Introduction This brochure provides information about the gites at La Borie, a 17th century property on the border be- tween the Dordogne and Lot regions of France. Our accommodation consists of a large converted barn housing up to 14 guests in total. The Accommodation The gites at La Borie can accommodate up to 14 guests within two attached properties, making our accommodation perfect for large groups or families. Both gites have fully-equipped kitchens, large living spaces and outdoor covered seating areas. Guests have exclusive use of a large swimming pool during their stay. La Borie has plenty of outdoor space, which guests are free to use during their visit. There is a grassed area with table tennis next to the gites, a large orchard, a field, and a children’s play area with a large trampoline and swings. Both gites have covered, fully-lit outdoor dining areas. The Location Set within the grounds of a 17th century farm, the gites at La Borie sit on high ground above the village of Frayssinet-le-Gélat on the border between the Lot and Dordogne regions of South-West France, one of the country’s most attractive rural areas. The region benefits from excellent weather from spring through to early autumn. Frayssinet-le-Gélat is set amongst forested hills at one end of the Thèze valley, and is typical of the region’s small medieval settlements. Outdoor Space Guests staying at La Borie have exclusive use of sev- eral outdoor spaces, including a large field and an or- chard overlooked by the old farm’s tower; near to the pool is a children’s play area with a large trampoline and swings; just beyond is a small area of woodland if some shade is needed. There is also a private grassed area next to the gites with table tennis. Outside the property, there are excellent local hiking and cycling paths that can be accessed from the gites, and one of France’s long-distance Grande Randonnée footpaths passes very close to the property. La Borie is also situated next to one of the region’s best horse riding schools, offering high quality tuition and excursions into the local forests.

Outdoor Activities The area’s rivers provide some of Europe’s best canoeing & kayaking on gentle, safe rivers, along which boat tours are also popular. Safe roads through stunning scenery making the area’s cycling routes among the finest in France; the region’s gorges are excellent for climbing; well-marked footpath networks provide scenic hiking routes; and clear rivers & lakes offer some of the country’s best swimming and fishing locations. Hot-air balloon- ing is also popular within the Dordogne and Lot valleys, offering a particularly special way to experience the region. Places and Activities for Children The area is also excellent for children and young people, with waterparks, zoos, aquariums and theme parks throughout the region. Many of the area’s castles and prehistoric sites have child-friendly activities and displays. Sporting activities within the region are particularly family-friendly, with kayaking along the gentle Dordogne river and cycling along quiet roads being especially popular.
The Landscape La Borie is situated on the border between the Dordogne and Lot regions of South-West France.
