RECONCILIATION

A contemplative pioneer in the North Star State
On this day in 1947, Father Prosper Edward Meyer, O.S.B. was
ordained to the priesthood in Collegeville, Minnesota as the first black
Benedictine in the United States. He was an early African-American
priest at Saint John's Abbey, among the first U.S. Catholic seminaries
(religious or diocesan) to lift bans on black applicants. Meyer would
go on to serve for 14 years in priestly ministry, including overseas in
the Bahamas, until his untimely death in 1961 at the age of 49. His
willingness to persevere in faith and in his vocation serves to inspire
us all to holiness and fortitude in our respective states of life.

Religious Education
Registration in June!
Registration for Fall Religious Education classes for children in grades 1-12 will take place
in June. Remember – children are NOT automatically re-enrolled. The child’s parent or
guardian must enroll their child EACH YEAR to attend.
Registration forms can be picked up 24/7 from the boxes outside the Religious Education
gate. Be sure to take one per family, plus a student form for each child you are registering.
Completed forms, plus fees and copies of sacrament certificates (for new students) should
be returned on Wednesdays in June from 4:30 -7:30 pm in room 13/14 of the Education
Building, or on Sundays from 6-7 pm in the narthex of the church.

Inscripción en junio!
La inscripción para las clases de educación religiosa de otoño para niños en los grados 1-12
se llevará a cabo en junio. Recuerde: los niños NO se reinscriben automáticamente.
El padre o tutor del niño debe inscribir a su hijo CADA AÑO para asistir. Los formularios de
inscripción se pueden recoger las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana en las cajas que se encuen-
tran afuera de la puerta del edificio de Educación Religiosa. Asegúrese de llevar uno
por familia, además de un formulario de estudiante para cada niño que esté registrando.
Los formularios completos, las tarifas y las copias de los certificados sacramentales (para nuevos estu-
diantes) deben de entregarse los miércoles de junio de 4:30-7:30 pm en el salón 13/14 de la edificio de
Educación Religiosa o los domingos de 6-7pm en la entrada de la iglesia. Para dejar los formularios en
otros horarios, comuníquese con Gisela Saldaña en la oficina de Educación Religiosa. 992-0901.

Al santiguarnos, pues, no lo hagamos tan aprisa y balbuceando la oración
que nos encomienda a la Trinidad y nos ayuda a comprometernos como
bautizados al servicio del Reino de Dios. La Trinidad es un misterio de
amor y de entrega, y cada año, la Liturgia nos propone reflexionar en las
tres personas que la componen: Dios Padre, Dios Hijo y Dios Espíritu
Santo. Es el misterio más grande del cristianismo. Donde Dios se revela
como comunidad de vida y de amor que existe en la Trinidad. Un solo
Dios verdadero, en tres personas distintas.
