YOGA IN THE GRAND PALAPA Author: Kim Horrill What an incredible place to practice yoga here along the Oaxacan Coast! One of the silver linings of the pandemic has been the re-location of yoga to the Grand Palapa from the fitness room in the gym area. We hear the waves and feel the gentle ocean breezes five mornings per week. Dolphin and whale sightings are regular occurrences for visitors to class. We are incredibly fortunate to have a world-class yoga instructor here at Vivo. Ana Bermejo lives in Puerto THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF YOGA Escondido which she has called home for the last 3 years. Ana, originally from Mexico City, There are literally thousands of research studies trained and studied yoga in India. IS YOGA FOR ME? HOW DO I GET STARTED? These are frequently asked questions from people interested in yoga but concerned they are not flexible enough or are not quite sure about this ancient practice. Yoga is for EVERYONE! That is the beauty of yoga as it incorporates aspects of the mind and body and as such, is not solely a physical pursuit. Yoga is meant to connect our minds with our bodies through breathing. Yoga is for people of all ages and physical abilities. A strong yoga instructor will tailor instructions to meet everyone’s abilities. Ana does this in every class. A DISCOVERY TOUR TO REMEMBER Vivo Resorts recently had the pleasure of hosting Mitch and Dani Cole on a very special discovery tour. Hailing from Colorado, our guests embarked on their adventure to explore the possibility of making Puerto Escondido and Vivo Resorts their second home. Little did Dani know, Mitch was working behind the scenes with the team at Vivo to make their tour extra memorable. Mitch surprised Dani with dinner on the beach and a beautiful ceremony to renew their marriage vows. The Vivo family was honored to play a small part in their special day and to welcome them both as new members of our community with their purchase of a homesite at Nuevo Escondido. VIVO OWNERS COVID 19 RELIEF EFFORTS Author: Jef Vermeulen The Owners Covid 19 Relief Fund team has been at work, reaching out to the Vivo and Chila communities since the Covid 19 Pandemic surfaced in Mexico in April of 2020. It all started with 2 incredibly successful GoFundMe campaigns that raised a total of USD $8,000 and CAD $27,250 in both the USA and Canada, plus MP $50,000 from the Vivo Foundation. With all the support from owners, the Vivo Foundation and CoralTree, we have been able to support the community with MP $625,000 in food baskets, small amounts of cash, free bi-weekly medical clinics in Chila and medical supplies. What initially started as an effort to provide assistance to the Vivo employees and their families quickly extended to the greater Chila community. Donations were used to purchase basic foods, such as beans and rice, medicine and other essential supplies. This was extremely successful and we wish to express our appreciation to owners and Vivo employees who assisted us in getting food baskets and medication to the right people in Chila. In September we shifted our focus from food Once again, The Vivo Foundation has stepped hampers to financially supporting a local Chila up to the plate and will match up to a total of doctor, Dr. Ana Luisa, with PPE and assistance $50,000 pesos of your donations to the Vivo running bi-weekly clinics for those in need. MEET CHEF HERMANN JIMENEZ LOPEZ Puebla (UVP) and previous experiences at the Camino Real, Presidente Intercontinental and Barceló, have inspired him to refresh the menu at Ernesto’s. Two of his specialties getting rave reviews are the Special Mixed Salad (inspired by Pat Simpson) and the Catch of the Day with green butter, epazote, parsley, coriander and hoja santa. When you are craving a taste of home, look no further than the hamburger topped with caramelized onions, fresh avocado and tomatoes. Bringing natural ingredients from the farm, lakes and ocean to your table is the responsibility of lead chef, Hermann Jimenez Lopez and his team. Born in Oaxaca City, Hermann is very familiar with the natural ingredients and foods that make the local cuisine special.
