For Year 12s YEA! Domestic Exchange Program World Education Program (WEP) Australia is excited to announce the launch of our new domestic exchange program, YEA! (Youth Exchange Australia). While Australia's international borders remain closed, YEA! offers Australian students the opportunity to broaden their horizons through a leadership-focused domestic exchange program. SMS ‘YEA!’ to 0428 246 633 for more information. Aspire – Early Admissions Program to La Trobe At La Trobe, we believe there is more to being a good student than marks alone. The Aspire program rewards the skills and knowledge students gain from the positive impact they have made on their school or community through community service or volunteerism. Designed to give Year 12’s the tools they need to succeed at La Trobe and beyond, students accepted into the Aspire program will get: • A taste of university life at La Trobe with special on-campus events before the year commences • The chance to meet and connect with like-minded students • Leadership opportunities, career development, networking, and industry mentoring • VCE revision lectures for Year 12’s in the September school holidays • Access to La Trobe’s extensive library and campus resources • Induction into La Trobe’s Enrichment Program to prepare for what is to come Successful applicants also receive their early conditional offer in September for their chosen course along with minimum ATAR requirements. Many courses have a minimum ATAR of 55.00, but some professional degree programs have higher requirements. Up to 40 Aspire scholarships, worth $5,000 per year for up to four years, will be awarded to leading eligible Aspire students. The Minimum ATAR Table shows the minimum ATAR for some professional degree courses for entry through Aspire in 2022. Should an applicant’s preferred course not be listed on this table, then the minimum ATAR is 50.00. Applicants are required to provide information about the length and frequency of their community service and/or volunteering experience, as well as a 400-word description of their involvement and impact. Types of volunteering include – • community service or community group activities • religious/cultural group activities • participating in social justice groups or a school leadership role

Tertiary Study Information News from the Australian National University - Bachelor of Health Science The Bachelor of Health Science degree equips students with a broad understanding of the themes explored in advanced studies of medicine and offers a potential pathway to the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery at ANU. The Bachelor of Health Science is a distinctive science degree which positions students as a future leader in tackling health problems of national and global significance. It draws upon the world-leading strengths of ANU in medical education, biomedical science, population health, psychology, social science, and public policy to prepare students for a future in medical professions. The Bachelor of Health Science offers a pathway to the postgraduate Doctor of Medicine and Surgery at ANU without having to sit the GAMSAT. Eligible students will receive an offer to the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, contingent upon their weighted average mark (WAM), an interview process, an application statement and successful completion of the Bachelor of Health Science program. Student Experiences University of Melbourne - Meet Melbourne Webinar Series 2021 The Meet Melbourne Online 2021 undergraduate webinar series allows students to explore the courses and study areas that interest them. Commencing on Tuesday 27 April, the university will be running 13 subject area-specific sessions over two weeks. Every webinar will run for 45 minutes, commencing at 6.00 pm. Each webinar will cover content including: • Exploring the undergraduate degrees and pathways to graduate study • Meeting some of the inspiring people teaching and supporting students at Melbourne • Getting to know current students and hear their tips for making the most of university life • Finding out about internship, work integrated-learning, volunteer, research and study abroad opportunities
• Having access to faculty experts who will be available during all sessions via live chat to answer student questions throughout the event. News from Monash University Monash Information Evenings Monash will be hosting several Information Evenings over the next few months, aimed at providing students and families information regarding undergraduate study at the university. All information evenings will run from 6.30 pm– 8 pm. Other Volunteer Position – Kew Historical Society The Kew Historical Society in conjunction with Kew Library, hold quarterly book sales to raise money for their programs. They require 4-5 students to help them with the pack up at the end of the event. The details are as follows: First Date: Sunday 23 May 2021 Time: 3:45 pm Duration: 90 minutes Interested students are invited to send their resume to wardk@trinity.vic.edu.au. Applications will close Friday 7 May 2021 at 9:00 am. This is a great opportunity for students looking to add to their resume, meet the volunteer requirements for Duke of Edinburgh or for applying for tertiary study applications or scholarships. Changes to Student Contributions towards University Degrees When Australian students go to university they are eligible for a Commonwealth supported place (CSP), whereby the Australian Government pays some of the university fees and the student pays the rest, this is called the 'student contribution amount'. Commencing in January 2021 new student contribution bands and ranges have been introduced: STUDENT CONTRIBUTION BAND 2021 maximum student contribution amount (per EFTSL)* Band 4 Law, accounting, administration, economics, commerce, $14,500 communications, society and culture Band 3 Dentistry, medicine, veterinary science $11,300 Band 2 Other health, allied health, built environment, computing, $7,950 engineering, surveying, science, environmental studies, pathology, visual and performing arts, professional pathway psychology, professional pathway social work Band 1 Agriculture, English, mathematics, education, clinical $3,950 psychology, Indigenous and foreign languages, nursing, statistics

They are also not eligible to apply for the New Zealand Student Loan or Allowance unless they have been living in New Zealand for at least three years and are normally living in New Zealand.
