Look Good Feel Better Magazine | Fundraising FUNDRAISING >> 2017 Highlights The second half of 2017 was an incredibly busy time for the Fundraising team... September saw our second annual ‘SWALK – Walking for Women with Cancer’ event at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking. Over 300 supporters took part in the 5K and 10K walks through stunning scenery, then enjoyed cream teas in Denbies conservatory restaurant, whilst listening to Guildford-based ‘Tenovus Sing with Us’ choir. Thanks to M&S Beauty’s generous sponsorship, SWALK raised over £19,500. As part of our new strategy to increase individual support through consumer shows, the Head Office team and some of our Confidence Club volunteers met hundreds of ladies at the Knitting & Stitching Shows in London and Harrogate. LGFB teamed up with sewing guru and author Wendy Gardiner, who produced a pattern for a make-up bag and brush roll holder for the special edition fundraising pack. Over 1,000 fundraising packs were given out, enabling keen sewers to make the products and raise funds for LGFB. We were delighted with the very positive response from attendees. The pattern SWALK can be downloaded from the fundraising pages. October saw our first ‘Beauty Festival’ event held in St. David’s Centre in Cardiff. Twelve stores took part including Debenhams, Boots, M&S Beauty and The Perfume Shop, together with over 20 leading brands. Shoppers were encouraged to make a donation in return for mini makeovers and treatments, whilst enjoying the wonderful voices from the ‘Tenovus Sing with Us’ choir and Cardiff’s Affinity Women’s choir. In addition, Scarlett & Pearl engraved The Knitting & Stitching Show perfume bottles for a donation and there was a fantastic men’s and women’s beauty hamper worth over £1,000 as a raffle prize. The event greatly increased awareness and raised over £5,000. find out more Join our Confidence Club! Look Good Feel Better Magazine | Corporate Partnerships CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS >> key activities Since the launch of our partnership in 2017, 170 Debenhams stores nationwide have been involved in some great fundraising. Three gala events in April, September and December helped raise funds and awareness of our services in communities around the country. Debenhams Cardiff was instrumental in helping ensure the Beauty Festival was a huge success. Beauty Department Manager Sue Carter said, “We absolutely love supporting this charity as it is so hands on and really understands what cancer patients are going through. We always look forward to the fundraising events as it brings the whole store together, not just the beauty department.” We also held two very successful Debenhams Head Office awareness events, raising over £4,000. October saw LGFB attend our first Debenhams Foundation Ball at Grosvenor House Hotel in Mayfair, with over 800 guests supporting Debenhams’ four official charities. As LGFB is the newest charity to receive the Foundation’s support, our ‘Voices of LGFB’ film was shown, which the audience found very moving. This glamorous event was hosted by Gabby Logan and included performances from award-winning mind-reading duo, DNA, as well as Karen, Giovanni, AJ and Oti from Strictly Come Dancing, before Rick Astley got everyone onto the dance floor. The Auction and Raffle raised over £210,000, which will be split between the four charities. Sara Stern, Trading Director at Debenhams and LGFB Board Member (bottom right), said, “Our partnership with Look Good Feel Better has got off to an excellent start. As a key UK retailer, we recognise we can provide unparalleled support for LGFB through our stores and brand partners. We look forward to working closely together to enable LGFB to further increase its reach and support for people living with cancer.” Ian Daniels, Head of Fundraising, added, “We are so grateful to Debenhams and our brand supporters for this fantastic start to our partnership and look forward to further success in 2018.” 10 |
