Parent & Leader Information Booklet The purpose of the Cub Scout Camp program is to provide an opportunity for continuation of the Cub Scout program into summer. Cub Camp is an experience in group living in a natural environment under the supervision of trained leadership. Cub Camp is FUN and helps achieve the aims of the BSA: character development, citizenship training and personal fitness. Location Farmers Branch Historical Park 2540 Farmers Branch Ln Farmers Branch, TX 75234 Recommended Route: From Josey Lane, turn west onto Farmers Branch Lane. Have attending Pack leaders arrange to carpool as much as possible to avoid back-ups from drop-off/pick-up. Limited on-site parking is available in the Historical Park on a first come, first served basis. Let the camp director know prior to June 8th if there is a need for additional handicap parking at the camp. Overflow Parking: available at 1 Metro Square on southeast corner of Ford Rd & Christian Pkwy. Dates Monday June 14th through Friday June 18th, 2021 Camp Times Monday through Friday 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm Drop off no earlier than 2:45 pm Pick up on time at 8:00 pm – we will not dismiss early. Family Picnic Friday 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm A family picnic will be held at the end of the camp on Friday. Bring a picnic meal to share with your Cub Scout. Drop-off, Pick-up & Check-in Drop-off Instructions Enter the Historical Park from Farmers Branch Lane in an orderly fashion in one of the two designated lanes. Pull as far forward as you can or are directed. Follow the directions of the park employees or Cub Camp volunteers. If you pull into a parking space within the park you will need to stay there until the drop-off or pick-up process is complete. Once your Scout(s) has exited the vehicle, they will be directed to the temperature tent. (Remember, if your child has an elevated temperature, you will be required to pick them back up!) 4 2021 Elm Fork District Cub Scout Twilight Camp Parent Information
Pick-up Instructions Enter the Historical Park in an orderly fashion in one of the two designated lanes. Pull as far forward as you can or are directed. Follow the directions of the park employees or Cub Camp volunteers You will be directed to the right-hand lane of the pick-up area as you are waiting for your camper(s). Continue to move forward to prevent back ups until your Scout(s) are in the vehicle. Cars that have their scout(s) will then be allowed to pull into the left-hand lane and drive out of the park. Stay in your car. As we are near a residential area, the Historical Park has directed us to prevent back-ups into Farmers Branch Ln. (If, for any reason, you need to get out of the car and walk around to pick up your child, you will need to park in the parking lot at One Metro Square and walk up to camp.) Check-in All staff, youth and adult participants should proceed to the temperature tent to have their temperature taken upon arrival (with a normal temperature, each participant will receive a color-coded dot for back of lanyard) COVID screening paperwork for each participant in attendance for the day should be given to the main Den Leader Main Den Leader will check the days roster and turn it in to Camp HQ with all COVID screening paperwork 5 2021 Elm Fork District Cub Scout Twilight Camp Parent Information
Parking Parking will be at Dallas Christian College at the corner of Ford and Christian. It is best to use the gate at the SE entrance of the Farmers Branch Historical Park. Gate will be open from 2:30-3:00pm and 8:00-8:30 pm. If you are entering the park from this gate, please proceed to the temperature tent to get your dot. If you need to access the park during hours the gate is not open, please call or text Camp Director or use the remind system to sent messages to staff. Preparing Your Scout for Camp The week before camp, have your scout get outside as much as he can (you too if you will be a leader at camp.) Acclimating to the heat will make the first day of camp much easier. The day of camp everyone campers and attendees should apply plenty of insect repellent and sunscreen at home before camp. No insect repellent should be applied on to the forehead to prevent insect repent from dipping into eyes while perspiring. WATER, WATER, WATER!!! All persons at camp should drink lots of water while outdoors at camp to keep hydrated and to avoid heat stroke. It is important to bring a water bottle or cup to use for drinking at camp. In addition to water, it is also a good idea supplement your electrolyte intake during camp with sports drinks or water additives to facilitate perspiring. Suspected covid/influenza In the event a camper is suspected of contacting COVID-19/influenza, that camper will be immediately quarantined at the nurse’s station and a parent will be notified to pick up their child. Campers suspected of contracting COVID-19/influenza should not return to camp Severe Weather Affecting Camp In case of severe weather, all campers will be evacuated to the designated emergency shelter in the park. Parents will be notified if we need to send campers home early due to severe weather. Take shelter will be signaled using 2 bullhorn blasts to alert participants. Should it be necessary to cancel camp, we will notify your leaders who are responsible for notifying the scouts in their units. Medication at Camp If a camper is bringing medication to camp, it must be in the original container and have the camper's name and specific dosage instructions. Unit Leaders collect any such medications during pre-opening unit time and turn them in to the Camp First-Aid medical officer on their way to or from the flagpole for opening ceremony. Unit Leaders will send any camper taking medication to the Camp First-Aider with a "Buddy" when it is time for the child to take the medication. Injured or Sick Campers Campers and volunteers will be treated by R.N. on staff for injury at camp depending on the seriousness of injury. All serious injuries will be taken to the nearest hospital. For minor illnesses that aren’t suspected to be due to a contagious virus, R.N. will treat or evaluate. All campers or volunteers suffering serious ailments (heat-stroke, allergic reactions, etc.) will be taken to nearest hospital. Lost Camper In the event of a camper who is not with his walking group and believed to be lost, we will alert participants to the missing camper by signaling with 3 long bullhorns blasts. All campers will be instructed to sit on their bucket until the missing camper has been found. All campers must tell leaders and use the buddy system when not walking with their den to avoid false alarms and camp stoppage. Tagalongs Tagalongs are siblings/relatives of scouts between the ages of 5 and 12. All campers younger than Wolf-age must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian at all times. Visitors at Camp All visitors must check-in at the camp headquarters to receive a visitor’s pass. A visitor is someone who is at camp for less than one hour. Adults planning to stay longer than an hour, for any day, must complete the on-line registration as a Walking Den Leader before the close of camp registration on May 23rd. Campers Leaving Early Scouts being checked out early will need to check out through headquarters and the person checking them out will need to provide a picture ID and be listed on the camper release authorization form. 7 2021 Elm Fork District Cub Scout Twilight Camp Parent Information

Sunday, June 13th 10am-12pm CAMP UNIFORM – must wear everyday Current year’s camp t-shirt (You might consider buying a second shirt.) Socks and shoes – closed toe and heel REQUIRED Hat – with bandanna attached to keep sun off the neck Shorts or appropriate pants for the weather and heat What Each Scout Should Bring: One 5-gallon bucket – to keep stuff in and use for a chair, has a handle for easy carrying and will keep your things dry Small hand towel or bandanna Cup or water bottle Water Shoes or other shoes for the sprinkler activity Non-perishable sack lunch and drink – (Sodas and sugary drinks make you thirsty. Consider bringing water, Gatorade, or other hydrating beverages.) Hand Sanitizer Totems/Swaps if participating with other Scouts in trading items Mask – when social-distancing in not possible. Camp Rules [Parents: please discuss these rules with your scout prior to the first day of camp] You may not bring your Scout to camp if they have an elevated temperature or are feeling unwell. BSA policy states that no one may ride in the back of a pickup truck. Certain areas around camp will be clearly roped off with fluorescent tape. Under NO circumstances are campers allowed beyond these barriers. Violation of this rule may result in a camper being dismissed from Cub Camp. Stay away from the creek and the construction. All campers & adult workers must wear the camp shirt daily as part of our security measures. Socks and closed toe and heel shoes are required to be worn at all times by all campers (scouts and adults). Scouts should stay with their unit unless the unit leader has given them permission to leave the unit with a “buddy” (walking to first aid station, using restrooms, totem trading, scavenger hunting, etc.) No running, unless instructed to do so during a camp activity such as an obstacle course. Respect the rights of others. No active games or sports other than games organized by camp for stations should be played in the unit areas at any time (ie. football, frisbee, catch, etc.) No electronics, cell phone, arrows, tomahawks, knives, guns, toys of any kind, or water pistols should be brought to camp!
