Dear Yale Travelers From the cultural treasures and mountainous landscapes of the Andean highlands to the verdant island ecosystem of the Galapagos, this expedition is an opportunity for the entire family to share in a love of nature and wildlife. Yale Study Leader Leo W. Buss, Professor Emeritus of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and of Geology and Geophysics, is widely known for his research in ecology and evolution. He taught at Yale since he completed his doctoral work at Johns Hopkins University in 1979. His book, The Evolution of Individuality (1987), broke new ground in understanding evolution. Professor Buss was named Guggenheim Fellow in 1985 and the MacArthur Foundation Prize Fellow in 1989. He served as Curator of Invertebrates at Yale's Peabody Museum and director of the Sears Foundation for Marine Research and director of the Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies.
