IN TOUCH A publication of Trinity United Methodist Church Volume 60 June 11, 2021 A message from Pastor Craig…… I am taking a pause from rushing around before the movers arrive to share a heartfelt thank you for your words of kindness and gestures of love. The cookie reception was a nice way to have some closure on this two-year journey we have shared. A special thank you to Sue Shuman for her amazing sugar cookies! I am praying for all the transitions that we are immersed in. Pastor Eric will be arriving soon. Please grant him lots of grace and continue to practice hospitality as you welcome his family. A new youth director and associate pastor will be joining the team in time. Lots of change. I always remember that it is not change we fear, it is loss. The good news is that you are gaining so much in this time of new beginnings. Relish the opportunities that await and practice letting go and letting God lead in fresh expressions of grace and love. Trinity’s New Youth Director Hired! Trinity’s Staff Parish Relations Committee is excited to announce that Carly Tallon has been hired as Trinity UMC’s new Youth Director, starting on June 21st. Carly graduated from Kansas Wesleyan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministry. She continued her education by attending Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore KY, before transferring to St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City where she is completing her Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, specializing in Deacon Ministries, thisAugust. Carly moved to Salina in 2011, and she has been serving as a volunteer youth director at University United
Methodist Church, Salina KS, where she also served as a pastoralinternin2015-2016. With her Master’s thesis on the relationship between youth ministry and mental health, Carly understands the importance of making sure everyone feels included no matter what challenges they might face, and making adaptations so that everyone can be a participant. She is also interested in partnering with our local mental health professionals to help youth develop positive coping mechanisms and understanding that mental healthis just asimportant as physical health. Carly has a cat and a guinea pig, enjoys watching shows at the Salina Community Theatre, and loves all things Disney! She even likes to build Disney Lego kits. But more than Disney, Carly loves Christ and her favorite aspect of youth ministry is seeing youth grow in their relationships with Christ as they take ownership of their faith. “I am looking forward to getting to know Trinity’s youth and your youth volunteers, and building relationships within the congregation,” shared Carly. Join SPRCin welcoming Carly to Trinity UMC on June21st! VBS Day 2 Celebrations Page 2
