Knoll Ridge Chalet.

Perched 2,020m above sea level on the edge
of Mt Ruapehu, Knoll Ridge Chalet is New
                 Zealand’s highest dining experience. Accessible
by gondola and overlooking breathtaking views
of the Pinnacles, the award-winning restaurant
boasts natural timber and warm finishes that is
juxtaposed to the surrounding environment, put
                 together by designer Jess Interiors.

The Italian designed Babar Chair is featured
heavily inside the eatery. Upholstered in a warm
leather, the Babar is paired alongside slatted
timber banquette seating with built-in planters.

Bringing an eatery to life on top of a frozen
mountain is always a challenge. The harsh
                 remote environment, rapidly changing weather
and limited road access meant the project
                 required extensive logistical programming to
ensure safe delivery and placement. The team
used a helicopter to carry loads of furniture to
the top of Mt Ruapehu and install it into the
restaurant. The end result is a stunning result of
                 innovative teamwork.

Bodrum.

One of Nazar Group’s popular restaurant
          concepts, Bodrum is a contemporary
          Mediterranean eatery open in Westfield
Newmarket. With an interior inspired by
Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar and the streets of
Bodrum City, this eatery brings the tastes of the
world to the heart of Auckland.

Designed by Material Creative, the rooftop eatery
has a Mediterranean palette of crisp white and
azure. Along with copper lighting, plastered
walls and stunning mosaic flooring, Bodrum
is designed to transport diners to shores half a
          world away.

Custom bar leaners and specially imported
stools are arranged for communal dining, while
curved banquettes and pedestal tables are
arranged in small nooks for a more personal
experience. Stools are placed along the bar and
at windowsills, making the most of the space
          provided.
Corner Burger.

Corner Burger have a philosophy around quality,
fresh and local, demanding the best. Naturally,
Harrows were a great fit for furniture for their
                 rooftop venue at Westfield Newmarket.

This venue was masterfully designed by Material
                 Creative, curating a contemporary interpretation
of an old American Diner. The look is pulled
together with deep burgandys and aquas for
banquette upholstery, grounded by warm timber
tones throughout the table tops and joinery.
Steel table edging and funky black and white
tiled tops accent the space and link to the tiled
                 floor and counter.

The Piazza Chair in black and red was chosen for
this project as it fits the brief perfectly for colour
and style, and custom stools were developed to
                 finish off the fitout.
Leafe Cafe.

Leafe Cafe is the perfect spot to step away from
the busy Westfield Newmarket mall and enjoy
delicious food and company in a fresh, natural
space. Harrows supplied design group Material
Creative with a variety of standard and bespoke
furniture to make their vision for the eatery come
              alive.

By combining modern styles with classic designs,
as well as close communication between teams,
a unique and cohesive interior was created.
Bespoke upholstered steel stools were designed
by Harrows with collaboration from Material
Creative, and custom marmoleum ‘Pizza Tops’
were supplied. Triangles of coloured marmoleum
are cut and carefully placed on a round top,
and edged with brass. Leafe Cafe is a space that
stands out from the crowd, a result of shared
              product knowledge and innovation,
Botany Commons.

The Botany Commons is a social haven in East
Auckland, offering three different spaces to eat,
drink and relax. This exciting eatery elevates
from a lunch venue for a debrief with friends or
colleagues, to a vibrant dynamic atmosphere
in the evenings. Designed by Ctrl Space, Botany
Commons boasts an outdoor courtyard area
with a curated list of over 100 different gins/
whiskies, a fresh and open dining space, and a
live entertainment area that is bringing back East
              Auckland’s bustling nightlife.

The indoor space is freshened up by bringing the
outdoors in. Pedestal Bases are powder coated
crisp white and paired with outdoor metal chairs
and oiled Excelsa Tops. Timber chairs – including
Italian designs Cleo and Tivoli – are padded
with warm, earthy upholstery and greenery is
              abundant, embracing biophilic design.
Newbie.

Located on Newmarket’s Broadway is Newbie, a
vibrant cafe designed by Material Creative. Based
on the bottom floor of the Mercury building, the
cafe livens up the business district with splashes
of colour. Described as “a colourful oasis in a
sea of concrete”, the space boasts a vibrant and
eccentric interior, with technicolour tiling and
          fun neon accents.

Harrows helped to inject character into the
          space through modern, thoughtfully designed
          furniture. Upholstered Mode Stools and
striking Pi Leaners spill out into the foyer to
          accommodate the weekend crowd, promising
an electric and engaging environment to meet
for those in the area, Newbie is a space for
professionals and collaborators to gather over a
cup coffee, expertly brewed by a team of baristas
          – which includes the two-time winner of the New
Zealand Latte Art championship, Leo Li.
Lola’s.

After a successful collaboration, the owners and
designers of Flour Mill approached Harrows with
another concept. Boasting a retro aesthetic,
Lola’s aim is to draw people in through nostalgia
and a vibrant charm. Ctrl Space was behind the
funky design of West Auckland Cafe, Lola’s.

Highly saturated colours create a Wes Anderson-
esque ambience, speaking of a different time
and era. Solid timber Cleo Chairs were stained
in bold primary shades. By staining the chairs,
the colour seeps into the wood itself instead of
sitting on its surface, which leaves it subject to
chipping and wearing. By supplying product
that meets the design brief without sacrificing
durability and quality, Harrows is able to ensure
yet another successful fit out for Ctrl Space.

Relief Banquettes, upholstered in bright shades
of yellow and blue, direct customer flow and
          create zones through colour.
Something & Social.

After a successful collaboration on Something &
Social’s eatery at The Crossing, the design team
                approached Harrows with another concept.
Located in Westfield Newmarket’s rooftop dining
precinct, the restaurant – designed by Ctrl Space
                – boasts a variety of both traditional and highly
                custom furniture.

There were several requirements Harrows had
to meet for the project. Providing unique, fit-
for-purpose furniture was one, and delivering it
before the mall opened was the other.

During the installation of Something & Social,
                Harrows was responsible for simultaneously
delivering furniture into five other sites on the
rooftop precinct. To make sure everything went
smoothy, Harrows worked closely with the
owners, project managers and fit-out contractors
and ensured loading bays and crane access
were booked, so the timber tables and stools
could make it to the top of the high-rise building
without any hiccups. Close communication and
                careful organisation between teams ensured
a smooth installation process and a happy
                customer.
Flour Mill.

Epsom’s new cafe, Flour Mill, is a cosy and
inviting space boasting a sun-kissed outdoor
courtyard. Inside, work by CTRL Space and
Fitout Collaborative has given the rustic cafe a
modern, idyllic feel, where the neutral palette of
light timbers, soft grey and pastel pink contrasts
perfectly with the rough brick wall, untouched
              from its factory days.

The cafe is small, seating 25, with bench seating
running along its walls. Stunning Tivoli Chairs
are paired with compact Poise Cafe Tables,
with outdoor stools providing a pop of colour.
The warm ambience along with the exquisite
food and coffee is everything you’d want in a
              neighbourhood cafe.
Little Creatures.

Sitting on the water’s edge in Catalina Bay, this
historic Sunderland Hangar building has been
carefully restored and is now home to one of
                    Auckland’s most exciting hospitality complexes.
Ignite Architects partnered with Lion NZ to
deliver the ‘spritiual home’ for brewers Little
Creatures. The working brewery is described
as a village, with ‘multiple food and beverage
                    offerings that celebrate inclusiveness, community
spirit, free thinking culture, and great beer!’.

The client and architect brief included the use of
salvaged materials, consistency in reflecting the
heritage of the site and creativity throughout all
elements. For Harrows this meant sourcing and
executing custom furniture options. The food
hall features our Fero Leaners customized with
reclaimed timber, as well as custom designed
family sized tables, with hand-painted pops of
colour to add to the vibrancy and authenticity of
                    the space.

This impressive project has also achieved critical
acclaim, being nominated as a Hospitality –
Spatial Finalist in the Best Design Awards 2019.
Mr Pickles.

Harrows were excited to work alongside
Designwell to create Mr Pickles a casual bar and
eatery down the lane at 298 Victoria Street in
Hamilton. Known for its forever changing menu
that develops into whatever experience their
              guests crave.

Mr Pickles fit-out features our Amour table tops
made with a stunning combination of timber
and brass, paired with the industrial Fero stools
with an upholstered seat for added comfort.

Harrows were a perfect fit as furniture supplier for
this job, with such a wide range of product that
was ready to be customised with colours and
              upholstery.
The River Kitchen.

At the heart of Hamilton CBD is the River
Kitchen, a small cafe that prides itself on its
warmth and friendly hospitality. It’s interior,
designed by Designwell, is carefully crafted to
enhance social interation and create a place of
                 comfort through furniture.

Banquettes are utilised heavily in the fit-out,
pushed against walls and arranged back-to-back
to make the most of the narrow space provided.
With smaller, private booths on one side and a
long, open banquette on the other, divisions and
zones for different diners are artfully created.

The Share Banquettes are upholstered in
caramel-coloured vinyl with deep fluted detail,
which brings softness and warmth to the interior.
With exposed brick walls, the use of banquettes
acts as an acoustic and visual softener.
The back
story.
The secret to making spaces you want to be in.
Harrows is a family business run by three brothers, Mark, Tim and Rich
Suckling who all learnt the craft of furniture making from an early age.

The family was initially focused on manufacturing domestic furniture,
until they acquired a small import business and reselling business in 2006
servicing the hospitality sector. It was quickly apparent that there was a
large appetite for fresh, different and exciting furniture options in this area,
                                                 which wasn’t being serviced.

Fast forward to today and Harrows has three generations under one roof,
with a team upwards of 35 across sales, marketing, customer service,
operations and production, with specialist departments in-house for
laminating and machining, fitting and assembly, upholstery, polishing
and painting. We have expanded our personalised approach and product
designs to service all social spaces, not just hospitality.

We believe that good design should be both functional and aesthetically
pleasing, but most importantly, accessible to all. To put it simply, it needs to
be possible to execute in an efficient and commercially sustainable way. It’s
an ability to interpret a creative vision and translate it to a practical solution
while minimising compromise that sets Harrows apart.
