Our own Minister for Seniors, Tracey Martin, acknowledges that this country has a growing problem too; with one in five frail elderly New Zealanders identifying as lonely in a recent survey. Rotorua Lakes Council has been actively promoting the district as age-friendly for several years, this HIP booklet being just one way of addressing this growing issue. Full of inspiration and information, the booklet has grown in popularity since launching in 2009 to showcase the depth of what’s available in Rotorua.
