ALDI Smart Kids: ALDI provides up to $5,000 of funding and gift cards to organizations that promote kids

American Heart Association Teaching Gardens Grant Program: Grants of $2,500 will be awarded to 50
organizations to help their garden space thrive. Applications are due October 29. Visit

Budding Botanist Grant: This grant will help our youngest citizens learn about plants, explore their
world and inspire them to take care of the life they discover in their local ecosystems. Eighteen high-
need schools across the United States will be awarded $1,000 in grant funding to support their youth
garden programs. Any school serving students in grades K-12 with at least 40% of students qualifying for
free or reduced-price lunch is eligible to apply. Applicants must be planning a new or expanding an
existing school garden program designed to teach students about environmental sustainability and the

Fruit Tree Planting Foundation: The Foundation is dedicated to planting fruitful trees and plants to
alleviate world hunger, combat global warming, strengthen communities, and improve the surrounding
air, soil, and water. They strategically donate orchards where the harvest will best serve communities
for generations, at places such as community gardens, public schools, city/state parks, low-income
neighborhoods, Native American reservations, international hunger relief sites, and animal sanctuaries.

Good Sports Equipment Donations: Schools where at least half of students qualify for free or reduced
lunch may apply to receive sports equipment. Schools will be required to pay a shipping and handling

Growing Gardens-Growing Minds Grant: Stadler Nurseries is offering $500 gift cards to provide schools
with plants and gardening supplies for garden and landscaping projects. Because we also offer schools a
20% discount, the gift cards can actually purchase $600 worth of plants and merchandise. Applications

Justin J Watt Foundation After-school Athletic Program Grants: This grant is for middle schools where
over 60% of students are eligible for free and reduced lunch. Grants will support after-school sports
programs that meet between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Money may be used to purchase new uniforms and

Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant: Grants of up to $500 are available to purchase native plants and
seeds. Applications are due October 15 annually. Project goals should focus on enhancement and
development of an appreciation for nature using native plants and emphasize involvement of students
and volunteers to increase the educational value of the site. The use of and teaching about native plants
and the native-plant community is mandatory. The native plants must be appropriate to the local
ecoregion and the site conditions (soil, water, sunlight). Successful applicants are eligible for native-

McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation- Academic Enrichment Grants: The Foundation considers
proposals which focus on serving children from low-income households that foster understanding,
deepen students’ knowledge, and provide opportunities to expand awareness of the world around
them. The Academic Enrichment Grants provide funding for programs that nurture the intellectual,
artistic and creative abilities of children from low-income households. Applications are accepted
between January and mid-April annually. Note: According to the funder's website, a 1099 form is issued
to the individual who receives the grant. The person receiving the 1099 would subtract the amount of
the expenses from the total received. The only thing that should be taxable to the individual would be a
stipend issued to him or herself. Amount funded is up to $10,000 for a maximum of $30,000 over three
years. The online grants system closes once 350 applications are received, so plan to submit early. Visit

NEA Foundation Grants: Must be an NEA member to apply. The Foundation provides members with
grants up to $5,000 to improve the academic achievement of students in U.S. public schools and public
higher education institutions in any subject area. The proposed work should engage students in critical
thinking and problem solving that deepen their knowledge of standards-based subject matter. The work
should also improve students’ habits of inquiry, self-directed learning, and critical reflection.
Applications are accepted February 1, June 1, and October 15 annually. Visit

Safer® School Garden Grant: Safer® Brand gives away $500 school garden grants. Applications are
accepted between September 1 and December 1 annually. Visit

Salad Bars to Schools Grant: This grant program provides schools with salad bar equipment and
support, such as Cambro bars, camchillers, and technical assistance. Visit

SPARK, the Education Foundation for Prince William County Public Schools: SPARK supports innovative
projects at the classroom, school, and Division level. Applications for up to $5,000 can be submitted

Thomas Brown Athletics Grant: The California Casualty Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant program will
consider grant requests up to $1,000 for public middle and high schools nationwide whose athletics
programs are in jeopardy and in great need of funding. Applications are due January 15, 2022. Visit

USA Track and Field Foundation Youth Track and Field and Running Club Grants: Youth track and field
and running clubs are invited to apply for financial assistance. Preference will be given to clubs that are

Walmart Community Grant Program: Walmart and the Walmart Foundation support schools and other
organizations with grants of $250 to $5,000. Applications are accepted February 15 to December 31

Wisner Family Foundation Grants: The Wisner Family Foundation provides grants of up to $5,000 for
projects or programs that support pre-K through 12th grade education and students with special needs

Archived Grants

Action for Healthy Kids Game On Grants: These grants of up to $2,500 provide funding for physical
activity and nutrition initiatives that support schools in becoming nationally recognized as health-

Bill Belichick Foundation: The grant provides up to $10,000 to deserving athletic communities or
organizations in need of financial support. Applications are due June 1, 2021. Visit

Community Foundation for Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Grant Opportunity: Each year, the
Community Foundation for Northern Virginia provides a grant opportunity to help public schools
encourage healthy lifestyles through increased exercise and better nutrition. Grants up to $2,000 each
are available to individual public schools in Northern Virginia that implement a program or strategy to
encourage better nutrition or more activity among their student body during the school year.

Good Ideas Grants: Grants support federally impacted PreK-12 teachers and schools in their efforts to
address students’ academic needs and social/emotional wellness. Grants of up to $5,000 are awarded to
NAFIS-member school district applicants that strive to increase outcomes in these areas. These grants
typically go to teachers with great ideas whose projects would otherwise go unfunded due to budgetary

Herb Garden Grant: The Herb Society of America will award four teachers in grades three through six
with an indoor or outdoor herb gardens. The funds, up to $300, may be used for supplies such as soil,
plant trays, containers, child or youth sized tools, etc. Applications are due October 1. Visit

Katie’s Krops: Katie's Krops offers grants to youth ages 9-16 to start a vegetable garden to feed people
in need in their community. Youth selected as Katie’s Krops Grower in 2022 will be awarded an all-
inclusive grower kit. This kit will include items necessary to start a garden in your backyard, on your
balcony or patio, etc. For example, this box may consist of seeds, a hose, watering can, a sprayer nozzle
for hose, educational materials, information on good/ bad bugs and diseases, a pH testing kit, a trowel,
gardening gloves, pruners, organic fertilizer, plant markers, and a gift card to purchase soil. Applications

Kids Gardening Youth Garden Grant: The Youth Garden Grant is an award designed to support school
and youth educational garden projects that enhance the quality of life for students and their
communities. Any nonprofit organization, public or private school, or youth program in the United
States planning a new garden program or expanding an established one that serves at least 15 youth
between the ages of 3 and 18 is eligible to apply. Winners receive a package of garden equipment and

Little Seeds Pollinator Pals Grant: The Little Seeds Pollinator Pals Grant is designed to support youth
garden programs interested in preserving and creating pollinator habitat to help rebuild declining
pollinator populations. Eighteen programs will be awarded a check for $500 to support the development
of new and expansion of existing pollinator gardens in communities across the United States.

National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) Diversity and Inclusion Grant: This $1,500 grant
opportunity is for high school educators who serve in rural areas and/or diverse student populations or
are actively promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives in their school or greater community. Applicants
should provide their school’s demographics and explain how the funds will directly benefit their
students. Funds may be used for supplies, materials, field trips, or other resources to enhance the
delivery of courses. Applications are due September 15, 2021. Visit

National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) School Supplies Grant: SHSS supports their network
of educators looking for meaningful ways to support their students. To help offset the financial burden,
NSHSS gives twenty high school educators $500 grants to help provide additional opportunities to their
students and classrooms. Any high school educator can apply for a $500 grant, particularly those who
are also heads of clubs in their schools. Applications are due September 15, 2021. Visit

Road Runners Club of America: Kids Run the Nation Fund: Provides $500 to $1,000 grants to running
clubs that engage elementary and middle school youth in running at least once a week for multiple

Whole Kids Garden Grant Program: The Garden Grant program provides a $3,000 monetary grant to
support a new or existing edible garden at either a K to 12 school or non-profit organization.

Youth Service America (YSA) Afterschool Service Learning Grants: YSA will award Afterschool Grants of
up to $500 each to support youth-led service or service-learning in an afterschool program. Grants are
offered on a competitive application basis and open to any afterschool program that can engage at least
50 youth as volunteers in service or service-learning projects between November 2019 and May 2020.
Preference will be given to programs that engage a large percentage of youth from underserved
