GTU INNOVATION COUNCIL www.gtuinnovationcouncil.ac.in Report On SSIP COVID 19 Screening round 1 Date: April 28th, 2020 Time: 11:00 AM – 05:00 PM Platform: Google Meet Introduction To give the required boost to the emerging youth entrepreneurs the roof of GTU Innovation Council (GIC) is created. The GIC center of Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara and Ahmedabad is the regional center for incubating startups. This Center is setup under the parent university named GTU (Gujarat Technical University). GIC Surat has initiated a policy labeled as Student Startup Innovation Policy. Through this policy the innovators and entrepreneurs gets an opportunity to pitch their startup ideas. The panel sits and evaluates about the ideation and offers a Grant of Rs. 2 lakhs to the deserving candidates. So they can start working on the prototype of their project. The Online Project Screening for COVID 19 was conducted online under the banner of GTU Innovation Council. Many teams across Gujarat cities participate for SSIP project screening. The event was moderated by GIC Coordinator Mrs. Trushna Yagnik & Ms.Brinda Pandiya with the help of other Coordinators of GIC Member. The Jury Panel consisted few of the many coveted personalities from different sectors. They were: 1. Aashish Bhavsar (Owner of Wave Visions & Director of Inmed Equipments pvt ltd) 2. Sanket Shah (CEO of Cognoscente Ventures) 3. Jasmin Joshi (Industrial Designer DreamVu India Pvt.Ltd) 4. Sanjay Chauhan (Director of GTU Innovation Council) Sneak Peek into the Event: On the 28th April Online SSIP screenings were scheduled on Google meet platform. Amidst this pandemic and lockdown situation the GTU Innovation Council encouraged students and innovators across the city to come up with their ideas. Under this umbrella of SSIP there arrived many ideas which were majorly focused upon fighting the corona virus and other issues aroused due to this pandemic in the best possible ways. This time’s screening was all a new experience for all the audience because this was the first time when the entire process was shifted to online. Moreover, due to this lockdown and the pandemics situation keeping the safety of our participants the screening was held online. For the screening process, the participants and their team were asked to fill a form also, they were asked to submit their presentation before the date of presenting. GTU INNOVATION COUNCIL www.gtuinnovationcouncil.ac.in idea was done. Out of those the most eligible one and the ones relating to COVID-19 issues were shortlisted. Then, they were informed about the same. One day prior to the screening the teams were assigned time slots of 15 minutes each. So, that there stay no issues in the presenting format. Also the juries were informed to join the room accordingly. One member of entire team was asked to present the entire presentation in brief and was asked to highlight the key points that in which way their idea could be helpful in this COVID world. The startup ideas were related to different fields like IT, Environment, AI, medical help and many more. Entrepreneurship is the new buzz word amongst the youth. You look around observe the things and come up with an idea. Same is with SSIP. Through this policy government helps students to come up with their ideas and present them before the jury. If the idea has the needed innovation and thought process blended in it. It’s a win! He is the Director at the firm named IP Calculus. This topic included the usual mistakes done by the startups which lead to their failure. The major ones to focus on was the confusion regarding which business entity to register your firm, less awareness regarding the intellectual properties and conflict between co-founders and others. Different types of business entities. This topic threw light on various types of pf business entity types that exist in real-time. From Sole Proprietorship to Public Limited and LLP as well sir drove us through all the different forms. Under this segment the necessity of Startup Founder agreement was discussed, it was told that why is it necessary to take this step in the initial time even if the startup is at a premature stage. And through that there will be less conflicts between the founders and have legal backup as well. Hyper growth is scaling business using digital market which is in 2 segment organic and paid strategies. The main concern is to engage and attract them to the digital market through social media and search engines. Consistency in progress and update with market is necessary for hyper growth. Don't crave at initial stage for likes and support on social media. Digital marketing starts on strategy with short and long term plan. Sales and market both are 2 different things. Market penetration is key challenge. Web development is necessary for marketing. Consistency growth of business is very necessary. Always promote live updates about current situation. The Online Project Screening for COVID 19 was conducted online under the banner of GTU Innovation Council. Many teams across Gujarat cities participate for SSIP project screening. GISC organized a "COVID-19 SCREENING" to encourage young Innovators in these pandemics who are working to help the society in these pandemics and how to solve or eliminate the problems of the society. Event was organize on virtual platform. On 8th- 9th, July, 2020 event was start with welcome Speech by GIC Surat center coordinator and then give a brief intro about GIC activity, Schemes, and Startup eco-system. After then Moderator give an introduction about jury members of this Screening, Jury's gave a motivational speech to all participants. Total 21 young and dynamic Innovators participated in this Screening. Then one by one participant presented their ideas to the jury. Jury evaluated idea in based of Clarity of idea, Feasibility of product/project, Competition, Production possibility, accessible to all, Safety features and utilities. In this screening, robots that can help supply medicines for patents or other items in the hospital, automatic hand sensitizer stand, food chain app, oxygen level testing machine, A sensor that helps maintain a safe distance, UV sanitizer machine that sanitize a phones, keys and many more items and many surprising and helpful ideas was presented by innovators. This meeting organized on google meet platform. In this meeting We discussed to every startup about them activity, How much grant used, How much work was done in project, How long will it take to complete the project yet, Future planning etc. many points are covered. One by one we talked to 18 startup in this meet. Mr. Pancham Baraiya Research Assistant, GISC moderate this meet. He give basic information to all Startup about a Currant Scenario. One to one all startups give them basic introduction and say them update about on project. Where are they having problems? Difficulty, motoring support required, Communication gap, gating permission to using lab or other resource and many point discus in the meet. Moderator all so give some further information for next expert session and events. GTU INNOVATION COUNCIL www.gtuinnovationcouncil.ac.in Report on Interview for Student Associateship Program 2020-21 Date: 3rd September, 2020 Platform: On Google Meet GTU is providing an opportunity to undergraduate/ postgraduate students to work as an Associate under the GIC’s Student Associateship Program 2020-21. GTU Call to the Students for Registration by Google form in 12 august to 25 august, 2020 for student associateship program. So many Students registered here. In South Gujarat region 77 Entry is came for Associate from Students. GISC Surat organize an Interview session in Google meet platform with all candidate in Three Group. First meeting on 11:30 am to 12:00 pm, Second Meeting on 12.15 pm to 12:45 pm and third on 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. In the Events: First Meeting Time: 11:30 am to 12:00 pm Conducted & moderated by: Ms. Trushna Yagnik, Regional Head, GISC Surat Meeting start by Trushna Yagnik giving a brief information about GIC and Student Associateship Program. What is the purpose of this program? And what is role & responsibility of associate? Etc. Also she give an information about selection Process at end of this interaction we give a two assessments to all candidate and they will completing and mail before 5.30pm on the day. After consideration of assessment final mail Sending by Center to selected candidate. After that give time to all candidate one by one to self-interrogations them study, skill, interest Arya, Experience etc. In the end of the meeting Ms. Trushna Yagnik have given two tasks to all participant. They have to complete it before today 5.30 pm and mail to mention email id: gic_trushna@gtu.edu.in or gic_surat1@gtu.edu.in. The first task is Prepare a Post-event report they have participated in any event in past. In the report mention about the event subject, planning, marketing, speaker speech, and result achieved after events, etc. And second task is draft a Pre-event proposal. She told them that if GIC give a chance to do en event so give proposal for the event. In the proposal mention about event subject, objectives, goals, action plan, technical and financial requirements, marketing planning, etc. They will have to submit this two-page report in word format before 5.30 pm today. Same as first meeting, Second meeting was organized at 12:15pm to 12:45pm that Conducted & moderated by: Ms. Trushna Yagnik, Regional Head, GISC Surat and third meeting was organized at 1:00pm to 1:30pm Conducted & moderated by: Mr. Pancham Bariya, Research assistant, GISC Surat. Student Associate Program is a unique initiative, where a GIC is providing an opportunity for students to work as Associates. GIC are looking for individuals who can act as the team leaders as well as are having the ability to work as the part of a team, in the Different Areas Entrepreneurship, Startup Ecosystem Development, Documentation (Content Writer), IT Developers (PHP/MySQL/HTML/CSS/Java Script etc.), Graphic Designing (CorelDraw/Photoshop/any related software), Film/Video Making (Cinematography), Event Management, Public Relation, Design Thinking (Design Engineering), Intellectual Property Rights (Patent Cell). We received more entries from students For Associateship Program. So we organized an interview session for the Selection process. GISC Surat Center received 78 entries from South Gujarat Region. We selected 24 Associates as per skills. GISC Surat organized an orientation cum one to one meeting with all selected associate on 21, September, 2020 at 11:00 AM onwards. In this meeting, Mr. Pancham Baraiya, Research Assistant, GISC Surat Center meted One to One all the associates who were coming from Surat City. In this Meeting he gave a brief information about GIC and what is role & responsibility of associate. Thought for Food has built a powerful movement that unites the most equipped generations the world has ever seen. Through their programs, they unlock their potential and deliver targeted, cutting-edge, science and technology-driven innovation to lead a sustainable food and agricultural revolution. In this live event leaders & speakers from World Food Program, United Nations, Astronauts of NASA, Google, Hollywood producers, NFL Athletes had inspiring all from their speech. Due to This Pandemic situation we organize the event with Care and safety. We follow guidelines of Covid 19 as Social distance, hand sanitization, Face Mask. Event was start at a 6.30 PM by anchor Riya Shah GIC Associate with a welcoming all guest and Participant. All organizing partner representative gave a speech about their activity. Prof. Foram Dharsandiya (Dean at innovation & development cell, SSASIT College, TFF ambassador in India) told about their College startup Activity and where she made the students knowledgeable of what innovation is actually, all about. Then after Mr. Chiragsinh Dabhi (project assistant at design innovation center Surat SPOCK) say about DIC Activity and Working system. Then after Mr. Pancham Baraiya (Research Assistant of GTU innovation & start-up center at Surat also TFF ambassador in India) gave a Short Speech about Working of GIC and how GIC is developing start up ecosystem. Also Pancham sir invited start-ups who shared their journey of a start-up. GTU INNOVATION COUNCIL www.gtuinnovationcouncil.ac.in In the middle of the event, two activities were undertaken to engage the participants of the event. First one was to write TFF in a very creative way in their own ways which was shown in the live session. And second was to frame 1-minute startup Idea by the participant who had attended the event, for which the participants were divided in the group of 3 each, total 9 groups in all. Here groups had to prepare a 1-minute startup plan related to agriculture or food in that after the dinner. In the startup idea the participants have to write startup name, problems identified, solutions from the startup, finance requirement, and future scope. After that the sheets were collected and asked one member of each group to pitch in front of the judges. There were lots of ideas related to agricultural industry as a whole out of which three groups were selected 1 winner and 2 runner ups. Concluding the event with the feedback from the judges, participants and associates. GTU INNOVATION COUNCIL www.gtuinnovationcouncil.ac.in REPORT ON GIC ASSOCIATE MEET DATE : 27th November, 2020 TIME: 11:30AM TO 12:30PM Platform: Virtually on Google Meet The associate meet was organized so as to keep in touch with members residing outside Surat and facilitate them in understanding the work undertaken at GIC, Surat. This will allow the organization to develop the ecosystem to harbor startups. The understanding is necessary to work in this field so that the associates can feel the responsibility and are able to empathize with startup aspirants. The Agenda of this meet is to interact with GIC Associates and keep in touch with them, Facilitate understanding of work done at GIC Surat, Interaction of associates with founders of Startup and allow experience sharing. The agenda items were met by allowing the associates to interact with founders of Startups working in connection and by the support of GIC, Surat. Following is the outline of the entire session. The Moderator of this meet Mr. Pancham Baraiya Sir, opened the meet by taking a brief roll call to all the associate attendees and asked them to introduce themselves briefly. The Agenda of the meet was informally laid out so as to familiarize the attendees with the meet. Then he invited founders of Startups to come address the associates with their introduction and their Startup journey. He also facilitated the process by asking the spokespersons to underline various aspects of their experience with GIC, Surat. Following are the spokesperson with their relevant information. As Surat is the Diamond City of India and a hub of highly scaled enterprises and innovators had experienced many start-ups growing from the root to the path of becoming a tree. With an aim to facilitate the young and dynamic entrepreneurs of India working for AATMA NIRBHAR BHARAT, GTU Innovation and Start-up Center, Surat had organized Young Entrepreneur MEET on 5th December 2020 virtually. Start-up entrepreneurs give their huge contribution to the societal development and also economic growth of the nation. So this session was organized for young entrepreneur discussion and talk on youth entrepreneurship in which the entrepreneurs’ shared their experience and journey of their start-ups and also motivated the youth to support each other and work together to make sustainable India. In event participants from all over Gujarat and outside Gujarat. In the Event 100+ entrepreneurs, faculty and students have participated. This session’s traction is around 420+ Facebook views and 500+ audience reach. Prasad Palav – Founder of Lokaleye Nived Harish – Founder of Nova Tech Labs About the event The session was followed by a welcome speech of Mr. Tushar Panchal, Incubation Manager at GISC, where he enlightened & motivated the attendees for the entrepreneurship journey. He further briefed a few of the past entrepreneurs of the past few years. Further added that how the current youth with their entrepreneur skills can contribute towards the economy, the importance of start-ups and many such aspects were shared for the encouragement of the students and the attendees. After that, all the five start-up entrepreneur had shared their failures, ups & downs they faced, and overall experience was shared in brief. Throughout the entire event Mr. Pancham Baraiya, the Research Assistant at GISC, was coordinating with all the speakers. Ltd. & Vardan Water Purifier, started saying how he thought for the start-up & chose this as the best alternative available as career opportunities while being as a chemical engineer in the year 2015. After that, he motivated youth to be risk-taker & adventurous for wealth creation in an innovative way. He further shared that how he diversified his water purifier plan from the solar project to the CSR program. Also, he shared the initiatives taken by GISC, Surat & helpful in funding the innovative start-up ideas. He concluded his speech by saying, believe in yourself is very important. Secondly, Mr. Yash Bhatt, founder of Brook & Blooms had shared his start-up journey. He discussed how natural problem converted into natural product. He got the idea to recycle the waste of the temple floral and cow dung into the natural product. He also shared how composing a small amount of waste now comes to have to work with AMC projects. Also said how they are providing job opportunities to the job seekers from this start-up. He also showed certain eco-friendly products as coco bowl, pot and diyas made from cow dung, herbal agarbatti and many. In the words of Mr. Yash Bhatt “Entrepreneurship is not a journey, it is your entire lifestyle”. Mr. Bhatt inspired all participants to work very hard, mentioning that keep going, there will be times when your parents or friends won’t support you, there will be times when you will have to work 22 hours a day, but in the end, the satisfaction which you receive will be unmatchable. He concluded by motivating the students for participating in such start-up events which may give them opportunities for the future by identifying social problems and also to be a job creator. Further, Mr. Praful Dhorajiya, founder of Genmed Shoppes Pvt. Ltd., shared his idea that how he came up with the affordable health care system a few years ago. They shared few details about the franchise system they are following all over India & sharing products with wholesalers. Later he said that after being a pharmacist he came up with this idea of Generic Medicine with innovation, extra benefits to end-users and 3 years of hard work. Also discussed the difficulties & hurdles faced in legal aspects and how they overcome this scenario. Apart from this medicine model how he diversified this with the FMCG model where this model only approached women for job opportunities. In conclusion, he shared few tips for the start-up which are mandatory to have i.e. teamwork, should have different candidates in the journey from different field and most importantly transparency should be there. After that, Mr. Prasad Palav, founder of Lokaleye has shared the journey of the start-up from the year 2017. There are certain issues to the citizens that they are now able to find the things available in any market, like in which market or area that things are available are not known. So with this, they came up with a start-up plan to resolve this issue. He shared the thought that making the system is not necessary that will work in the market, so it required too much background work. For boosting up young entrepreneurs he shared certain thoughts that mean, one only have the right to do good karma with good intention, rather than think about the result either would be in favor or not. Lastly, He said that we don’t become an entrepreneur because we don’t get a job, meaning starting our own business is not a backup plan, it is the thing instead which won’t let you sleep. Lastly, Mr. Nived Harish, founder of Nova Tech Labs, where he shared his journey from being a GIC associate to a young entrepreneur. He said, how faced the issue of the team who can work upon space rocket projects as were hardly find such candidates in the city. Now at present working with the community in which now there are approx. 5000 members across the world. Also shared how broke the record by preparing least weighted i.e. 29 gram of the satellite to be sent in the space which will be launch soon after facing lots of hurdles and difficulties. Also with this start-up plan, arranging the workshops in which tries to give basic knowledge for preparing the rockets & launching the same by the students so that can get encouraged and have some knowledge at the same time. At the end of the session, various interactive questions and answers session with the participants and the entrepreneurs were resolved. In the question and answer session, the participants have also highlighted certain facilities and funding schemes offered by GISC, Surat in which any young valuable and innovative start-up plans can be found helpful for their journey. Finally, huge encouragement and motivation were given by all the entrepreneurs to the participants in the webinar and valuable feedback was given by the attendees. And at last Mr. Pancham Baraiya, the Regional Coordinator at GISC, concluded the event by acknowledging all the entrepreneurs and the attendees there in the session. The entrepreneurs talked to us in a very friendly manner, which made it easier for us to relate with them and the struggles, they faced during their entrepreneurial journey. Mr. Goswami Started the speech with a Vandan to Swami Vivekananda and informed All Participants to Read HANKAL book to know more about swami Vivekananda. He said that Without Character your skill, competence, Confidence, Expertise are useless. So developing a character to receive high respect from others. He gave many examples of the life of Swami Vivekananda. He gave many tips to the participants on how to build good character? At the end of the session, various interactive questions and answers session with the participants and the Speaker were resolved. In this "Vivekananda Vichar Vimarsh" all the speakers explained these three qualities very well in the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda. Mr. Mihir bhimani concluded the event by thanking all speakers, participants and collaborative Supporters. This Meeting organized for encourage associate to do some Work for Startup Eco System. The Agenda of this meet is to interact with GIC Associates, Give them Basic information About Upcoming events and Give them task for Next Month. The Moderator of this meet Mr. Mayur Kalasariya (Research Assistant, GISC) Start the meet with Welcoming all Associate and initiate the conversation about upcoming events of GIC. He is also encouraged associate to actively participate in all Activities of GIC. He motivated to grow each and every day in life, how we can transform our challenges into opportunities. As Per Meeting Agenda He Give an information about upcoming Event GTU innovation sankul Award 2021 and SSIP Screening at GIC Surat Center. He briefed about a SSIP Policy and SSIP Screening Process at GIC in details. He discussed the NISP-2019 policy of the Gov. of India and suggested all the Associate to read it and asked for suggestions on how we can implement this in our organization. All Associates shared their ideas on what we can do next events in GIC. Associate give many ideas of Workshop, Seminars. We encouraged them to organize and conduct such events at the GEC Center. One of Our Associates Lokesh Sharma shared his future plan of joining defence sector and server our country by using his Techno brain and develop new technologies for protecting our nation. His thoughts were really inspiring to all. At last, given a task to all associates read startup journeys of a Successful Startup, to analyze their Story and present it in next meeting.
