Great Ocean Road Trek 2018 The adventure of a lifetime awaits Support Queenslanders living with diabetes More than 236,000 Queenslanders are living with all types of diabetes right now. It is a little known fact that diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death in Australia, and is the fastest growing chronic condition worldwide. Diabetes Queensland is a charity and membership organisation providing practical education programs, essential advice, ongoing support services and advocacy to Queenslanders living with diabetes, and those at risk. Through our programs and partnerships with industry, government and community groups, we work to ensure diabetes care is always improving and evolving. Our vital programs would not be possible without the generous support of our fundraisers. The 2018 Great Ocean Road Trek is a charity event and has a minimum fundraising target of $1,250 per person. We recommend creating an online fundraising page through Everyday Hero. You can personalise the page with photos, your story and updates as you go. By creating an online fundraising page, you will have a unique URL that can be easily emailed to your family, friends and colleagues, and shared on social media. You may like to create a team fundraising page. Additionally, Diabetes Queensland will supply you with donation boxes and receipt books for offline donations. We encourage you to look at different ways to raise funds in the lead-up to the trek, such as organising a free-dress day at work, a raffle or trivia night. The Diabetes Queensland team is here to support your fundraising journey. We will provide you with tips, tricks and advice to help you reach your goal. Our group target for the 2018 Great Ocean Road Trek is $25,000. “We had no problems fundraising, despite living in a small community,” Jennifer, 2016 participant. Want more information? Bimbi Park offers local advice, good beds, hot showers, and incredible meals near the magnificent beaches, forests, secluded bays and spectacular coastline you will be trekking. If you are planning to do this trek alone, we can arrange for you to share accommodation with another participant of the same gender.
