Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Guide us in us- ing these gifts for the work of your ministry, for building up the body of Christ, and for speaking your truth in love. Amen. Service of communion Invitation L: God be with you. God calls us into new life, and we respond by sharing that life with others. God calls each of us to be present in this world, to bring joy and renewing love to all God’s children. L: In life, we receive and extend many invitations, spoken and unspoken, in friendship and in need, but sometimes we are unable to hear or accept these invitations from one another. Participants: May we be led by God to see beyond our daily routines and to hear and accept the call to meet the needs of others. In Christ may we leave old ways behind and follow in his footsteps. The flowers are placed on the altar today as a witness to the glory and wonder of God. The Second Mile Giving for August Since 1994, Mission of Mercy, has been providing free medical, dental care and medications to the uninsured working poor and those unable to access affordable health care. The Mission of Mercy van visits Frederick Church of the Brethren, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, and Faith Baptist Church in Brunswick, twice monthly, serving more than 1,150 patients with over 3,790 visits at these clinics annually. Mission: Mission of Mercy seeks to restore dignity to all people by being an instrument of “healing through love,” and by the reciprocal sharing of God’s mercy with those we serve. Today a few of us are leaving for a combined mission trip in Pipestem, West Virginia with Jefferson UCC. Those going on the trip from Glade are: Pastor Amy, Joe Dows, David, Bonnie & Hailey Ogg. Please keep all participants in your prayers asking God for safety & that he will work in powerful ways. 5
Back to School Vaccination Clinic: I am not throwing away my shot! Saturday, August 7th 10 am to 1 pm Hood College is hosting a vaccination clinic for youth through young adults to prepare everyone for safely returning to school. Where: Hood College Whitaker Campus Center Vaccines offered: Pfizer and J&J Cost: Free Targeted audience: 12—26 years, though everyone is welcome. Confirmation Classes at Glade this Fall If you or someone you know would be interested in confirmation classes this fall please let Pastor Amy know. You can see her after church or email her at: pastor@gladechurch.org We are looking for liturgists if Counters for August you would like to read on a Sunday please let Pastor Amy Ron Rough & Patty Green or Tammie know. We would like to form an Audio Visual committee to help with Sunday service videos. If you are interested we will meet on Sunday, August 15th following worship. Effective immediately, the use of masks at Glade UCC will be optional for those who are fully vaccinated. We would like to ask those attending who are not yet vaccinated to please continue wearing a mask. We are also excited to announce that singing during worship has returned. We strongly recommend when singing that you please bring a mask to wear while singing each hymn. 6
