CAMPAIGN OBJEC T IV E Ghana National Egg Secretariat (GNECS) aimed to expand the trade in eggs , create awareness through myth busting and education on the benefits eggs and encourage the consumption of eggs
Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat (GNECS) was established when the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the American Soy bean Association (ASA) funded project-AMPLIFIES came to a close in 2019. The stakeholders in the Poultry Value Chain decided to continue the National Eggs campaign that was started by AMPLIFIES. This saw the birth of GNECS which is being governed by representation from 13 stakeholder groups
Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat Continued The chairman of the board at any given time was to be the chairman of the Ghana National Association of Poultry Farmers (GNAPF). The other representatives are for Association of Feed Millers of Ghana (AFMOG), Women in Poultry Farming (WIPF), Ghana School Feeding Program (GSFP), Ghana Health Service (GHS), Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), Animal Production Women in Agric, Ghana Hatchery Association, Poultry processors, Input dealers, Egg Sellers Association of Ghana (ESAG), Ghana Dietetic Association (GDA)

Every avenue is explored to highlight eggs front and center. This includes egg activations in schools and churches, Hospital visitation and Festival,
SCHOOLS STREET 17% KITCHENS 22% Community HOSPITALS COMMUNITIES 24% Outreach 22% Demystify and Educate CHURCHES The GNECS uses these platforms to get maximum 15% outreach with community buy in from traditional leaders and people with authority to spread education on egg nutrition. It began with 100% NEC spending and graduated to stakeholders cost-share. That has resulted in the establishment of an egg campaign Secretariat.
Egg Surveys 2017 and 2018 To establish per capita egg consumption in Ghana, the NEC that was started by AMPLIFIES worked with University of Ghana to conduct a national egg survey. This established 115 eggs per person is consumed in 2018 GNECS is working together with the Ministry Of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) to get the results validated.
Egg Curriculum Development & Training Current meta-analysis and studies were used GNECS inherited a team of Trainers which AMPLIFIES used. It included 58 district and regional nutritionists, egg sellers, farmers and dietitians who trained on latest egg studies related to cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, choline for infant and young children and general nutrition; they actively participated in the education activities nationwide. At the moment ASA WISHH has trained 20 Ghana Health Service Nutrition Officers from the Greater Accra Region as Trainer of Trainers. These TOTs train other Nutritionist in the 16 Regions for a better soread of the egg message
