Welcome to Lift Off! TMAG’s Festival for Children and Young People The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery’s festival for children and young people is back in 2021 with a brand new name - Lift Off! During the second week of the April school holidays, TMAG and surrounding sites will come alive with a four day festival of hands-on activities and presentations for children and young people. Lift Off! features many of the highlights you may have enjoyed in previous festivals, with a host of familiar activities for younger children. But this year we also have some special events and features for older kids and teenagers, including TMAG Up Late – a special night event at the museum for 10 to 16 year olds. Whatever you do, don’t miss our Festival artists in residence Erth Visual & Physical Inc. and their amazing project RETREAT – something very surprising is happening in TMAG’s basement! Whether you are 5 or 15 – there is something for all young people to enjoy at Lift Off! Booking Advice Most Lift Off! Activities are free but bookings are required for all sessions. Apart from paid ticketed events all other activities must be booked in, in person on the day. Bookings open at 9:30 am for activities for that day only and will be filled on a first in, first served basis. Getting to Lift Off! Please note parking in Dunn Place Carpark will be limited. Consider alternative parking/ transport options. TMAG is close to Franklin Square and the terminus of most Metro Bus routes in the city. Patron Advice This Festival has a major outdoor component. Some activities are messy. Please dress for the conditions. Closed shoes are recommended. For COVID-19 reasons pack your own sunscreen and water. Please respect space limitations and the need to book in for all activities as the Festival complies with current COVID-19 public health requirements. Your co-operation is much appreciated! The Festival site and individual activities are cleaned and sanitised between sessions. Download and use the Check in TAS app for Festival contact tracing and login each day.
