OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT Burgberg / Ödenpullach, Germany, 30 December 2020 Full Speed Ahead in 2021: Wakeparx Acquires the Sesitec Brand including Full Size Cable Business Sesitec Full Size Cables will be man- aged as a product of market companion Wakeparx • The System 2.0 will be offered independently by the former team under the umbrella of Adventure Lakes • A strong new concept for after-sales service has been developed together with Machwerk Sesitec, a brand deeply rooted in the sport, has shaped the lifestyles of many wakeboarders across different generations in a profound manner. After 28 years of company history, the acquisition of Sesitec by Wakeparx Technologies AG is an emotional moment for this reason alone. At the same time, it is also the starting point for something new with lots of potential and prospect. “Sesitec and Wakeparx, two products with a shared passion, now bundled under the umbrella of Wakeparx – the entire market will benefit greatly from this. We’re excited to look towards the future with a lot of momentum, but we’re also aware of the challenges. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but this is exactly how we want it. We have so much planned, and we want to get the most out of this growth spurt for our customers and for the development of the sport,” says Moritz Grotepass, the CEO of Wakeparx. Discussions between Sesitec and Wakeparx about a possible acquisition of the brand and the full size cable business have been underway for some time. During regular friendly exchanges between the companies, both sides came to the conclusion that wakeboarding’s special attraction
invites many people to commit themselves to the sport, not only in their leisure time, but also entrepreneurially. However, wakeboarding as a market is still too small to sustainably support a large number of competing cableway manufacturers. If a company wants to develop innova- tive products, offer its customers professional, long-term service worldwide, and ultimately be financially successful in order to fund all these endeavors, it must be able to reliably implement a certain number of projects each year. For both Wakeparx and Sesitec, it was clear that a merger of both products under one corporate umbrella made sense, and that a controlled transfer of the full size cable business from Sesitec GmbH to Wakeparx Technologies AG would result in a win-win situation for both entities. Since its founding in 2015 by Moritz Grotepass and Hans-Martin Noack, Wakeparx has dedicated its manufacturing 100 % to the full size cable business. Their goal has always been to further progress the sport of wakeboarding and to support it with modern cableway technology. The main focus is improving the riding experience for guests, as well as reducing the maintenance efforts for park operators – who should be spending more time attending to their customers, and less maintaining equipment. Wakeparx have already realized seven projects in seven diffe- rent countries; examples include Wakepark Brombachsee in Germany and Lunar Cable Park in Spain. Additional projects are already in the preparation phase. Through the acquisition of Sesitec, Wakeparx will benefit directly from an expanded customer base and additional new business. With an improved economy of scale, efficiency increases as Wakeparx further establishes their position as a specialist supplier, in line with their own goals. The company’s innovative spirit will also benefit Sesitec Full Size Cables, which will continue to be developed and improved. In the end, the combined expertise from both brands will be brought together, with a focus on developing new and replacement parts with high compatibility across both product lines. Christoph Schwarz, former owner of Sesitec who acquired the company from
its founder Christian von Lerchenfeld in 2018, says: “Wakeparx has a young, dynamic team that is very open-minded, with honest motivations and a lot of talent. They have already tackled some technical issues and have driven change in the industry. Their innovative spirit and pas- sion for full size cables is totally palpable. There is no one else who we would trust with our business and our customers.” For Christoph Schwarz and the former Sesitec team, the handover of the full size cable busi- ness is a conscious business decision that creates space for new projects and a shift in their own entrepreneurial focus. Over the past three years they have developed Aqua Chimp, a new product with immense potential, on which they now want to concentrate even more. Aqua Chimp is a floating climbing garden, a completely new form of leisure experience on the water. Unlike classic ropes courses, visitors don’t climb with safety harnesses, but rather fall safely into the water below. Aqua Chimp is challenging and exciting for a wide variety of target groups and ages, and is a highly attractive addition to wake parks and other locations. The System 2.0 will also benefit greatly from the acquisition of the Full Size segment. The most successful two-mast system in the world – a growth engine and pioneer for many great moments in wakeboarding over the past years – will remain squarely in the company’s focus in the future. The competence and passion represented by over 500 sold units will remain concentrated in their own house. Resources will be used to develop the product even further and enter into intensive discourse with our many customers around the world. A lot has alrea- dy been accomplished: for example, the latest version of the System 2.0 is equipped with the latest control cabinet technology and web-based user interfaces. Adventure Lakes will keep their focus on flexibility and different application possibilities in order to set important accents in the sport of wakeboarding with the System 2.0 in the future.
In the course of the acquisition agreement with Wakeparx and the increased focus on Aqua Chimp and the System 2.0, the former Sesitec GmbH has been renamed Adventure Lakes GmbH. In the future, the company’s own product offerings will be more broad, but still strongly aligned under a common goal, which the new brand name “Adventure Lakes” is intended to express accordingly. “I am really happy for the Adventure Lakes team. Their concept makes sense and takes into account the clearly recognizable trends toward different experience offers in wake parks. For this reason alone, we will have many overlaps in our daily work in the future,” says Moritz Grotepass. The handover of business operations is already in full swing, and it is of great importance for both companies that their customers experience a seamless transition. Spare parts for full size cables of both brands, as well as compatible products for other manufacturers, can be ordered at www.wakeparx.com/shop. The replacement parts shop for System. 2.0 will be accessible via www.system2parks.com/shop beginning on 5 January 2021. A completely new concept has been developed for service operations involving full size cables, effective worldwide and promising customers high quality with fast response times. Wakeparx will outsource maintenance and repair service to Machwerk. The team of owner Sebastian Süß has unique experience in this branch, and has successfully installed and serviced several cableways from different manufacturers worldwide in the past years. Sebastian Süß enjoys a correspondingly high level of trust in the industry. His company focuses primarily on after- sales orders, which is why customers will benefit from their specialized knowledge – which both Sesitec and Adventure Lakes are very excited about in regard to the 93 Sesitec Full Size Cables which are already installed and in use. Viewed from all angles, the acquisition agreement holds a lot of promise – for both companies, as well as the wakeboard market as a whole. After all, thematic focus and increased economic power are the cornerstones for good business decisions, innovation and passion. Nico von Lerchenfeld, who grew up with his father’s company Sesitec and who, as an experienced wakeboard pro, has an informed view of the market, sees it the same way: “I think the decision was well made, and I’m really happy that the legacy of Sesitec will be carried on at Wakeparx. Sesitec and also the System 2.0 were always the coolest things for me and for many other wakeboarders around the world. So I would hope for many new cable projects to emerge that carry on the spirit of Sesitec, and are also designed with input from us riders.” Christoph Schwarz, meanwhile, looks forward to further cooperation with Wakeparx, with a continued overlap in focus between the two companies: “We have already implemented several projects together in recent months, and have always felt that we share the same mindset. Therefore, we would like to continue working together closely, if not even more closely, in the future.” The website www.sesitec.com will continue to provide information about Sesitec Full Size Cables, and will be merged together with www.wakeparx.com in the first half of 2021.
