French Film & the New Wave Paris, France Summer 2022 May 10 – May 26 NOTE: The purpose of this presentation is strictly informational; La Tour Eiffel finalized plans for the program such as dates, excursions, etc. will by Greg Augustine be confirmed with participants following admission.
The Program • Spend 3 weeks of your summer studying film and art in Paris! • CINE 3402 (Pre-approved for Arts/Humanities degree requirements) • 2.5+ GPA • May 9 – May 27, 2022 • Deadline is February 1st Lyric Drama at Opera Garnier by Maykala Noyd

Meet the Director • Professor Ernesto Acevedo- Muñoz, Department of Cinema Studies & Moving Image Arts, directs this program. • He previously taught at NYU Madrid, Cine Club Universitario of the State University of Zulia in Venezuela, and 19 other countries with Semester at Sea. • An expert in his field, his feature- length documentary Hillmon’s Ernesto.Acevedo@colorado.edu Bones (2010) was screened competitively at various film festivals, including Big Muddy and the Flagstaff Film Festival.

Academics • This course explores the many links, inspirations, and imagery of the city of Paris as seen in French and American films from 1959 to the present. • Not only has Paris always been home to the French film industry, but it has also featured as a location—exotic and familiar at the same time—for some of the greatest films in history. • With readings, screenings and visits to many sites featured in our filmography, we will explore, experience, and interrogate the many faces of Paris and its surroundings as potentially the most culturally significant metropolis in the history of cinema. Housing • You will be housed in a central hotel in Paris, which will be close to a major metro stop and to the historic center of Paris. • The program hotel is Citadines Bastille-Marais, situated halfway between the Bastille area, one of the liveliest spots in the capital, and the Marais, a historical center of Paris. • Each room contains kitchen facilities where students can prepare their own meals. When your App is Complete! Application Review & Interview Due within one week of acceptance: participant contract & non-refundable deposit March/April: post-acceptance paperwork, pre-departure meetings, readings & preparation GO!
