Les Chansons Pour Les Classes: https://edu.glogster.com/glog/cha nsons1/tp95trki3
Reasons to Incorporate music into the WL classroom ❖ Music is a universal element of culture, so you are naturally learning cultural topics. It’s a great starting point to learn about cultural issues. There are an infinite number of songs that discuss culturally relevant topics, such as customs, history, human relations, humor, as well as regional and cultural differences. Songs teach language and culture simultaneously. ❖ The benefits of using music as a tool for second language acquisition are extensive. Firstly, songs teach linguistic elements--vocabulary, grammar and syntax. Students’ vocabulary becomes more extensive and their understanding of accents and tones is strengthened, leading to better pronunciation.
Research in second language acquisition has shown that the introduction of L2 songs in the world language classroom aids in the retention of vocabulary, because it produces an involuntary mental repetition that stimulates language acquisition.
Some examples of song activities: un homme debout karaoke 1. Zaz: “Sous le Ciel de Paris”: zaz sous le ciel de paris sous le ciel de paris karoake 2. Zaz: “Je veux” zaz je veux je veux karaoke 3. Claude Capéo: “Un Homme Debout” capéo un homme debout un homme debout karaoke
