Amplifications have included events associated with the 2017 Solar Eclipse, #STEMUP Weekend, Computer Science Education Week, and Engineers Week. What is DECA? Organization Purpose The Digital Empowerment Community of Austin (DECA) is a network of nonprofits, educational institutions, and other stakeholders working together to improve our community's ability to participate in digital society, making a more digitally inclusive Austin. Organization History DECA was officially convened on Thursday, October 29th, 2015 when more than 80 community stakeholders convened in the Asian American Resource Center to collaborate and brainstorm on challenges and opportunities in connecting our community. This meeting commenced Phase I of the co-creation strategy that developed a list of short, medium, and long-term initiatives that could have the highest impact on digital inclusion.

Recent DECA Initiatives ● Providing devices such as computers and hotspots to those without home access ● Offering basic digital literacy training from a distance ● Assisting members of the workforce working remotely for the first time ● Collaborating with the Austin Independent School District and other local ISDs to address the needs of teachers and students alike ● COVID-19 Community Resources

ACCELERATE Workforce Program ● ACCELERATE, our workforce development program centered on IT certification training, transitioned immediately to an entirely online format in response to COVID19 ● Current class offerings revolve around CompTIA ITF+, A+, Security+, & Network+ which are the preferred qualifying credential for technical support and IT operational roles.
