12 SPORTS PAST HIGHLIGHTS 23RD ADULT INTER-CLUB MIXED BOWLING LEAGUE 2017 After 27 weeks of intense competition, the CSC Adult Bowling Team has successfully defended their championship title for the second year running. Despite only being a part of Adult League for seven years to date, this young team has already won twice and finished on the podium five times. Helmed by the stalwart Captain Gerard Congratulations to our bowlers who won various individual Ng, the team has progressively improved – becoming more awards during the league: competitive and united through the competitions. 2nd Runner Up Masters Final - Men (1953 pinfalls), Bryan Lee CSC bowlers receiving the victory shield from the organiser This year’s league was nail-biting, with team standings finalised only in the last game of the season. CSC maintained a solid second place until a last-ditch effort in the final two weeks allowed us to mount a challenge against powerhouse Serangoon Gardens Country Club (SGCC). Strong showings in the final weeks by veteran Ong She-Na and ex-Youth Team bowler Bryan Lee kept us within touching distance of league leaders. A stable and collected performance in the final week of competition then saw us edging SGCC out to emerge as champions. The bowlers who represented CSC in the league were: Gerard Ng (Captain), Ong She-Na, Christopher Chan, Vincent Chan, Bryan Lee, Robin Teo, Felix Lee, Gwen Goh, Joshua Lee, Calvin Thean, Dorothy Tay, Benjamin Leong, Joan Tan, and Elliot Tan. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to our sponsor, LegalWorks Law Corporation, and to Elieeas from 12 Lanes. Their support was indispensable to the team’s success. 2nd Runner Up Masters Final - Ladies (1953 pinfalls), Ong She-Na
SPORTS PAST HIGHLIGHTS 13 5TH SINGAPORE WATER POLO JUNIOR INTER-CLUB LEAGUE 2017 (SERIES 3) The recently concluded 5th Singapore Water Polo Junior Inter-Club League Series 3 was held at Our Tampines Hub over two weekends in November. CSC’s Junior Water Polo Team selected one team for each of the Under-10 (U10), Under-12 (U12), and Under-14 (U14) categories. The most memorable of the three categories - and without a doubt the most exciting - had to be the U12 tournament. A total of seven boys represented the Club and commendable results were attained. The boys gave a fantastic performance, managing to obtain four wins from the seven games in this category. The matches included a hard-fought (for the boys), heart-in-mouth (for the parents) win in the final game against Queenstown Water Polo Club. Down 4-1 at the start of the fourth quarter, the boys fought back and won with an overall standing of 6-5. Applying what they learnt from training, the team demonstrated great teamwork and sportsmanship. Who says you can’t learn big lessons from little ones? Through this league, the boys certainly have taken away valuable experiences that will aid them in improving their team’s standards. We would like to extend our gratitude to all parents for their continued support of the programme, and to the coaches and parent volunteers for putting in so much hard work into grooming the team.
