Frederick News – February 5, 2021 End of Trimester With the return to Hybrid On-Site learning starting for some students on February 16rh, this will also mark the start of the third trimester for all students. 2nd Trimester grades will be calculated through next Friday, February 12th. Supply Pick-Up For the students who will continue the school year in Remote Learning, we will be having a supply pickup for the 3rd trimester on Friday, February 12th. If your child will be in the Hybrid Learning model, please DO NOT come to pick up supplies. Your child will receive necessary materials while at school. On February 12th, we will hold a “drive- thru” pickup event in the small circle drive just outside our main office during which your child’s pack will be brought straight to your car. For the safety of all, parents or students will not be allowed into the building. See the attached flyer for more details. Remote Book Checkout is Back! We are happy to announce that remote checkout with curbside pickup has started back up. See the attached flyer for more information. Start of Hybrid Learning Once we start hybrid learning, our students on site will need to learn our new processes and procedures for attending class in school. As a result, our remote students may have more instances of asynchronous learning while we are helping students transition within the school the first few days. We are confident we will create new routines quickly and find our stride as we adjust to hybrid learning. Our students have continually proven themselves adaptable and resilient when it comes to change, and we anticipate this being no different! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
The School Day at Frederick during Hybrid Learning We have been working very hard to get our school prepared for welcoming hybrid students onsite in the next few weeks. As a reminder, the dates for the start of hybrid learning are as follows: Tuesday, February 16th: 5th Graders in Group A Thursday, February 18th: 5th Graders in Group B Monday, February 22nd: 6th Graders in Group A Thursday, February 25th: 6th Graders in Group B On Monday, February 8th, all families who have elected hybrid for their child(ren) will be receiving an email that contains important information. This will include how to access your child's schedule via Infinite Campus, bus route information, important information related to health and symptom screening, and more. Please be aware the hybrid students should be prepared for potential changes to their schedule, either in the order of their core subject area classes or their homeroom teacher assignment. We are pleased to say that all students are able to stay with their current grade level teams, so despite these changes hybrid students will be able to stay in classes with familiar teachers. While the start of hybrid learning is a step towards a return to normal, please remember that there are going to be many differences between hybrid learning and a typical school year. We want to do our best to prepare all students and families for this so they can be aware of what to expect. Our staff will be working with students in the next week during the school day to make sure everyone is ready, but we are also providing this hybrid learning presentation to our families ahead of time so our entire school community can be on the same page. We definitely encourage parents and students to review this presentation together! Hybrid Learning Information - Frederick School (English) Aprendizaje híbrido enFrederick School (Español) Please be on the lookout for more information on Monday, February 8th related to the start of hybrid learning and please feel free to reach out to the Frederick office if you have any additional questions. Make Kindness the NORM @Frederick School Random Acts of Kindness Week February 14-20, 2021 Dear Guardians, Did you know that kindness is good for your health? Studies show that kindness can decrease depression, lower your stress, and increase your lifespan. Performing a Random Act of Kindness (RAK) does not only help the recipient but also everyone who witnessed the act! Imagine how many people can be positively impacted by one person, doing one good deed? We are preparing for our 5th annual Random Acts of Kindness Week at Frederick School. Things looks a little different this year, but it can’t stop kindness. Please help spread kindness by talking with your child about this special week. Share stories about how someone was kind to you and how it made you feel. We have attached a variety of resources to celebrate kindness from the safety of your own home. Frederick is proud to be an Iron Giraffe School! Our 5th graders have been learning all about Salva Dut and his amazing journey from a small village in South Sudan through war torn countries and refugee camps and all the way to New York. Now help him as he and his team work to bring much needed clean, fresh water and hygiene education to the people of South Sudan. Help Frederick School as we work to raise $1,000 to support these life changing initiatives. If you’re up for more of a challenge, join the team and help us fundraise.
