Focus areas* in WP 2018 – 2020 (1) Focus areas A small number of missions cut across the programme boundaries are implemented as focus areas. Each of these aligns with major political or policy drivers, and will be endowed with a substantial budget to allow for work of sufficient scale, depth and breadth. Focus areas are expected to create an exceptional impact, addressing ‘big ticket’ challenges. Focus areas in WP 2018 – 2020 (2) Focus areas are selected using criteria including: degree of fit with politically derived drivers; European added value, with convincing description of expected impact; potential for engagement of the stakeholder community (co-creation with users; support digital entrepreneurship); integration across the work programme; achieving integration of cross-cutting objectives, including coverage of the innovation chain. 4

Digitising and transforming European industry and services Nel Work programme ICT 2018 – 2020 sono previsti circa 471.00 milioni di Euro per finanziare: • la costituzione di reti europee di Digital Innovation Hubs come one stop shop in grado di supportare imprese, e in particolare le PMI, migliorando i loro business, processi di produzione, prodotti e servizi utilizzando le tecnologie digitali nelle aree di cyber physical systems, robotics, photonics, big data, digital games and manufacturing. • il lancio di una serie di iniziative per sostenere la creazione delle piattaforme industriali digitali del futuro, per le quali saranno definiti interfacce, architetture, protocolli di interazioni comuni per creare nuove opportunità di mercato a beneficio in particolare di PMI e nuovi players. 9
