Day 1: Melbourne, Essendon – Muloorina Stn. – Coober Pedy Depart Melbourne this morning bound for the outback and beyond… Touch down outback-style at enormous Muloorina Station for lunch and a chat with the owners. After lunch your pilot will fly you over the southern part of Lake Eyre before arriving in Coober Pedy. A private tour of this fascinating town includes a beautiful underground church, seeing how opals are cut and polished, and perhaps even taking the opportunity to spoil someone with ‘mineshaft’ prices. Then finish the day with a drive out to the alien landscape of the Breakaways Range for sundowners. Tonight you sleep underground with the opals at the Desert Cave Hotel. Flight time 3hrs 20mins total Day 2: Coober Pedy – Alice Springs After breakfast fly north to Alice Springs for a visit to Standley Chasm, a natural quartzite alleyway formed by surging floodwaters. Then, after a short scenic drive guests will discover just how alive the Red Centre really is with a visit to the Desert Park where we will have lunch. Desert Park is home to an array of Australian reptiles and mammals which thrive in this arid environment. Amongst many highlights of this visit is the free-flying raptors display. Accommodation is at Mercure Alice Springs Resort. Flight time 1hr 15mins
Day 3: Alice Springs – Tindal – Point Stuart Departing Alice Springs this morning we roughly track the Stuart Highway north en route to our destination Opium Creek Station’s airfield. We visit this region for its unbounded beauty and isolation, offering all the wildlife and wetlands of the popular Kakadu National Park, minus all the tourists. A beautiful little rainforest is right on your doorstep, you may choose to interview the water buffalo in the paddock, or just relax by the pool. Accommodation for the next two nights is at Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge. Flight time 2hrs 45mins total Day 4: Point Stuart, Mary River National Park Today, as a privileged Air Adventure guest, you will experience some special parts of Point Stuart, cruising the Mary River Wetlands. This area has an abundance of large wading birdlife and man’s least best friend, the saltwater crocodile. With the right tide, an afternoon of barramundi fishing is arranged for all who wish to participate. It is a lot of fun, and for non-fishing types the experience lends itself to an exceptional wildlife cruise. This evening your chef is on stand-by to prepare your own impossibly fresh barramundi delight. No flight today Day 5: Point Stuart – Bathurst Island – Bullo River Station Leaving Point Stuart after breakfast, the Outback Jet flies guests onto Bathurst Island where you are met by your Tiwi guide. Traditional owners welcome and escort guests throughout this fascinating island; visiting local art and craft workshops. Tiwi art is sought the world over. Have morning tea and lunch with your Tiwi hosts before the short flight to Darwin to refuel and then continue to Bullo River Station. Here the airstrip is literally a stone’s throw from the Homestead. Settle in to your accommodation and enjoy some time to relax. Accommodation for the next three nights is in the Guesthouse Wing at Bullo River Station * On occasion, due to cultural reasons, the Tiwi tour may be unavailable. Days 6 & 7: Bullo River Station For the next two days, 500,000 acres of NT wilderness is your to explore. Across your time at this iconic cattle station we will utilise helicopters, ATV’s, boats and horses (optional) to make sure you experience the gorges, fishing spots, aboriginal rock art, massive boab trees and all that this authentic cattle station has to offer. All of this is included. Day 8: Bullo River Station - Berkeley River Lodge Farewell Bullo River after breakfast for the flight across the border to the Kimberley Coastline and Berkeley River Lodge’s private airfield. Welcomed at the airstrip, it’s only a short drive up to the impressive lodge perched up on the dunes overlooking the sparkling Timor Sea. Settle into your accommodation before setting off to explore the area. Flight time 45mins Days 9 & 10: Berkeley River Lodge Across the next two days activities are varied from heli flights up to the spectacular King George Falls and gorge, dropping in to explore some of the best known but seldom visited Bradshaw Rock Art sites in the Kimberley - finish the day with a swim in the crystal clear (and croc free) waters of the Atlantis Pools. Other activities include the signature Berkeley River Gorge cruise as well as beach 4WD trips and fishing - again, all included for you. Your accommodation is extremely comfortable and offers uninterrupted views of the Kimberley, the cuisine is inspired and highlights local flavours. Day 11: Berkeley River Lodge - Horizontal Falls (scenic) - Cygnet Bay - Broome Some of the most scenic flying awaits as you soar over the awesome Prince Regent River, Kings Cascade, Horizontal Waterfalls and Kimberley coastal fords before landing at Australia’s oldest pearl farm, Cygnet Bay Pearls. Here you will get a behind the scenes look at their opera?on before segng off on a cruise to explore the truly spectacular ‘thousand islands’ of the Buccaneer Archipelago. This a/ernoon its a short flight down to Broome and the Cable Beach Club Resort, you have Cable Beach literally on your doorstep to enjoy! Day 12: Broome Broome is not your typical Australian outback town, being very cosmopolitan in character. Today guests tour the town’s many points of interest on board a private air conditioned bus. The long Broome jetty is a great spot to land a fish and Chinatown comprises some very quaint buildings, as attractive today as they were when built. Broome offers a variety of town experiences, with lots to do. Diamonds, pearls and crafted pieces can be purchased from places like Linneys. This evening we will take you to enjoy a local seafood banquet at a great restaurant that the locals try to keep a secret! No flight today Day 13: Broome – Yuendumu – Alice Springs - Parachilna Todays travel will see you fly from the northern WA coast, over the Tanami to Yuendumu for a quick stop and visit to the Warlukurlangu desert art gallery. From there stop in at Alice Springs airport for a quick lunch and then to the tiny settlement of Parachilna where your accommodation for the night is at the very stylish Prairie Hotel, famed for its gourmet outback inspired cuisine. The ‘feral antipasto’ will delight your tastebuds as you reminisce around the table with your new found friends. Accommodation for the night is at the Prairie Hotel Flight time 5hrs 15mins total Day 14: Parachilna – Essendon, Melbourne This morning you are taken on a drive into the ancient western Flinders Ranges and Brachina Gorge. Spot the agile yellow-footed rock wallabies before returning for yet another gourmet encounter courtesy of the Prairie Hotel. Air Adventure guests’ flight-leg homeward tracks over the magnificent Wilpena Pound then continuing on to Melbourne, touching down in the early evening. Flight time 2hrs total Note: there are no fixed departure ?mes for flights conducted on any day of this tour. Tour Details Your aircraZ: Travel is in the privately chartered Air Adventure Outback Jet, Cessna Conquest II. This twin prop-jet aircra/ is a fast, reliable outback machine capable of landing on gravel and remote airfields where others in larger aircra/ can’t. The Outback Jet is operated by Sharp Airlines, which holds an Air Operators Cer?ficate issued by CASA. All pilots are highly experienced and carry a Commercial Pilots License.
