PRODUCT INFORMATION MANUAL

                        JANUARY 2010
CABINET
The cabinet is produced from 18mm melamine faced chipboard. The interior is always beech,
and the cabinet exteriors are co-ordinated according to the fascia colour – oyster, white, maple,
vintage pear, kristal oak, beech, walnut and light apple. In the instance of Arvika Wenge, the
front edge is wenge but the exterior is beech. The cabinets are flat packed for self-assembly,
with all metal cam-and-dowel fittings. Additional wooden dowels are used for extra strength and
improved location.

WARDROBES

Wardrobe doors are available in four
widths – 300, 400, 450 and 500mm.
These provide a total of eight available
wardrobe widths – 400, 450, 500, 600,
800, 900, 950 and 1000mm.

Each wardrobe is supplied with one
hanging rail and one 25mm thick shelf,
which is adjustable for single or double
hanging. If double hanging is required,
please order an extra length of hanging
rail, which should be top fixed using the
fittings supplied. Double hanging
creates a top and bottom dimension of
1060mm each.

The wardrobe may be assembled on the
floor and stood upright under a 7’9”
(2362mm) ceiling height. Should the
ceiling be between 7’6” (2286mm) and
7’9”, the wardrobe should be assembled
upright – for this reason, the cam and
dowel fittings are visible inside the
wardrobe top.

The wardrobes are fully adjustable for
height, using four adjustable feet supplied with each wardrobe. These feet may be adjusted
from the inside when the wardrobe is in position. The base of the wardrobe is loose fitted,
allowing access to the adjustable feet.

The wardrobe back panels are manufactured from 8mm melamine faced chipboard, and are
grooved into the cabinet ends. In the case of double wardrobes, the backs are supplied in two
pieces for transport and easy of assembly. The two halves of the back are joined with a plastic
“H” section, which is finished with beech effect woodgrain on one side. Please ensure that the
woodgrain side is fitted to the interior of the wardrobe.

Five rails are supplied with each wardrobe – in oyster/beech or white/beech. If assembling an
oyster or white bedroom, the wardrobe should be assembled with the appropriate colour top rail
facing outwards. On all other colours, the beech face should face outwards. The visible cams
will be covered by the cornice once it is fitted.
The continuous plinth (also used for cupboards and chests) should be fixed through the
constructional plinth. The base, which is loose fitted, can then be dropped into place, providing
an ideal space to hide valuables whilst on holiday.

NOVEMBER 2008 Page 2 of 12
The doors are hung with four 110O hinges, included in the wardrobe horizontal pack. Please
note that the glass and mirror doors are drilled for three hinges only on some ranges, with the
fourth hole being omitted to retain strength in the door frame. On some ranges, the third hinge
hole is lower to preserve strength, and therefore the hinge mounting plate will need to be
repositioned lower to accommodate this. Glass and mirror doors are available in 450 and
500mm wide widths only.

WARDROBE INTERIOR DRAWERS

Interior drawer units with two drawers
may be stacked on top of each other if
required. The larger drawer pack is
suitable for 900, 950 and 1000mm
wardrobes, and the smaller drawer
pack will fit either a 450 or 500mm
wardrobe. Interior drawers are NOT
suitable for use with bi-fold doors.
Size adjustment for width is made by
modifying the side fillets, which are scribed at the rear to aid fitting. Interior drawer units are
supplied without top panels – either lower the existing thick shelf which becomes the top, or
purchase an additional shelf pack of the appropriate width.

INTERIOR SHELF PACKS AND WARDROBE DIVISION

Extra shelves are supplied in pairs for use with all wardrobe widths except 950mm. The
shelves may be used in conjunction with the interior drawer units and wardrobe division to give
various fitted interiors. Please note that the division panel is dimensioned to fit the full height of
the wardrobe interior, but may be cut as required. See the back page for various arrangements.
Please note – to fit equal shelves to both sides of a division, it is imperative that you calculate
the correct shelf pack requirements. For a 1000mm double wardrobe, please purchase an
800mm Shelf Pack and reduce the shelves in length. For 950mm and narrower wardrobes,
reduce a 500mm Shelf Pack in length.

STABLE DOOR WARDROBE

The stable door is only available as a 450mm door, and may
be fitted to a 900mm wardrobe alongside a 450mm standard
door, or to a 950mm wardrobe alongside a 500mm door. A
20mm fillet is supplied with each stable door, to position the
wardrobe away from the wall on the stable door side. This
produces a cabinet dimension of 920 or 970mm by 632mm,
when used with a Stable Door Pack to fit an adjoining 3-
Drawer chest or cupboard. A larger fillet may be used with
a deeper worktop if required.

The stable door is supplied with four 170O hinges, which
should be fitted to the ADJACENT full length door – this
gives better access into the wardrobe. Three of the
standard door hinges can then be used to fit the stable door.

NOVEMBER 2008 Page 3 of 12
90O CORNER WARDROBE

When fitting, allow a void of 175mm for a 1075mm
corner wardrobe (900mm wardrobe with a 450mm
door), or 125mm void for a 1125mm corner
wardrobe (1000mm wardrobe with a 500mm door).

The wardrobe corner post may be assembled to suit
right hand void with a right hand door, or left hand
void with a left hand door. The door is hinged from
the corner post, and the pilot holes provided in the
wardrobe base panel should be drilled through to fix
the corner post. The dimension from the back of the
wardrobe to the front of the corner post is 625mm.

DIAGONAL CORNER WARDROBE

Use a 450mm wardrobe door for a 935mm by 935mm diagonal wardrobe, or a 500mm door for
a 970mm by 970mm diagonal wardrobe.

The diagonal corner wardrobe is constructed as a stand-alone cabinet, and is supplied with
special 135O hinges, which are packed with the diagonal corner pack. WARDROBES
MUST BE FITTED TO BOTH SIDES OF A DIAGONAL CORNER, and
the handles on the wardrobe door should be fitted in the centre of the middle rail of the door,
rather than on one side of the door. This should avoid any clashing of handles when the doors
are opened fully.

NOVEMBER 2008 Page 4 of 12
LINEN PRESS WARDROBE 900mm

This is constructed as a standard 900mm wardrobe
with a special linen press kit fitted internally. The
wardrobe is fitted with two 450mm stable doors and
two special linen press drawer fronts. These two
drawers provide the maximum storage space for
bed linen and other bulky items which might not fit
into standard drawers.

Glass and mirror stable doors (where available)
provide an additional feature to the linen press
wardrobe. This looks exceptionally good when
combined with pilasters to form a break front.

LINEN PRESS WARDROBE 600mm

This is constructed using a standard 600mm
wardrobe and horizontal pack from a 3 drawer
600mm chest which contains the drawer mechanisms. It is necessary to drill the holes for the
drawer runners. The base of the wardrobe is used as the top of the drawers. It is supplied with 3
standard drawer fronts and two 300mm linen doors (1514mm high).

BREAK FRONTS & PILASTERS

Dramatic effects may be achieved in
bedroom design using breakfront pilasters.

Each pilaster is constructed as 100mm wide
by 175mm deep box section to give a
maximum break of 150mm. A minimum
break of 80mm is recommended in order to
allow the cornice and plinth to be mitred
easily.

The pilaster is fixed through from the
adjacent robes, ideally behind the hinge
plates or shelf to conceal the screw fittings.
Please refer to the price list for availability of
pilasters.

NOVEMBER 2008 Page 5 of 12
TOP BOXES

Top boxes are constructed as individual single or double units, with 18mm solid backs which
give the over bed units rigidity. The 18mm solid back also means that you will always get a firm
safe fixing even to stud partition walls.

Top boxes are 505mm deep overall, including the door front. Two rails are supplied, one oyster
and one white. When assembling an oyster or white bedroom, the top box should be
assembled with the appropriate colour rail facing outwards. On all other colours, the beech face
should face outwards with the cams being covered by the cornice when it is fitted later. The
other rail should be discarded. Please note that the top and front rail are similar in construction
to a wardrobe i.e. the rail will sit in
front of the top panel.

The cornice moulding is fitted beneath
the top boxes at both the front and
rear edge for extra support and rigidity.
This is also seen as a decorative
feature. The front piece of cornice will
then conceal the 8mm filler panel
(ceiling infill) which must be fitted to
cover the joins between separate top
boxes. This provides a continuous
effect when viewed from the bed. This
will also hold any 8mm panel in place.

Remember you may use the over bed
pelmet as an attractive and cost-
effective alternative to top boxes. See also Tall Quadrant Units.

When supplying Rialto White, Rialto Oyster, Espirito and Ariane, an exact matching 8mm ceiling
infil is not available however the relevant standard oyster or white infil will suffice. There are no
8mm ceiling infils for Arvika Wenge, Lugano and Rialto Gloss colour. In this instance use either
an 18mm fitter panel, if the top box run is less than 2300mm or 2x500 (496) Robe doors, cut to
suit and joined in the middle. If robe doors are used, please note the overall depth of the top box
including door is 505mm. If the panel is required to fit flush with the front edge of the door, a
length of cornice should be supplied to hide the 9mm gap which would be created at the back.

ALCOVE UNITS

The alcove unit is supplied with
attractive glass shelves and
produced to fit above a 2-drawer
bedside chest and below Top Box
cabinets. If your customer
requires a 3 or 4-drawer chest or
cupboard, the height of the alcove
unit can be reduced accordingly,
as indicated on the assembly
instructions. The height of alcove
units assumes that the top boxes
are being underlined with an 8mm
filler panel.

CHESTS AND BASE CUPBOARDS
NOVEMBER 2008 Page 6 of 12
Both chest and base cupboards are
fitted with four adjustable feet. The base
of the cupboards is removable to enable
access for adjusting the height, and for
plinth fixing.

When assembling chest for darker
finishes, the constructional plinth should
be reversed with the beech face to the
front.

All drawers are constructed from beech
effect PVC wrapped sections, and 8mm
thick melamine faced chipboard bases
in matching beech finish. They are
assembled with metal cam and dowel
fittings, and fitted with metal under slung
roller runners which provide drawer front
adjustment on the carcase profile.

Chests are supplied without tops to
enable continuous tops to be fitted.
Two-drawer chests may be fitted with
upholstery for seating areas.

TALL CUPBOARDS

Tall cupboards are designed as an
alternative to Top Boxes, and are 330mm deep including the fascia. They are supplied with
8mm back panels and a concealed hanging bracket. The top of these units should be aligned
with adjacent Wardrobes or Tall Angled Alcove Units.

Two rails are supplied, one oyster and one white. When assembling an oyster or white
bedroom, the Tall Cupboard should be assembled with the appropriate colour rail facing
outwards. On all other colours, the beech face should face outwards with the cams being
covered by the cornice when it is fitted later. The other rail should be discarded. Please note
that unlike wardrobes and top boxes, the rail will sit underneath the top panel.

KNEEHOLE UNIT 600/800mm
These units may be used between wardrobes or chests to form a kneehole dressing table unit.
They are each supplied with one vanity tray. Careful selection of handles is required if kneehole
units are to be used, as the narrow drawer fronts may create difficulty with certain sizes of
handle back plates.

VANITY UNIT 600/800mm
Vanity Units are constructed from a pair of 4 drawer ends and a cupboard horizontal pack, with
a pair of cupboard doors and a dummy drawer front. Remember that when you cut out the
worktop for a vanity bowl, the exposed chipboard edges must be sealed.

KNOBS AND HANDLES
All doors and drawer fronts are supplied undrilled and without handles, which should be ordered
separately.

NOVEMBER 2008 Page 7 of 12
COUNTER TOPS

Counter tops are supplied for two situations - continuous tops or cut to size. Continuous tops
are 2300mm in length and 460mm deep as standard. Where extra deep tops are required or to
produce across-the-corner kneehole tops, 700mm worktops are available in continuous lengths.
Cut-to-size tops are 460mm deep and available in the following lengths - 353, 453, 503, 653 &
853mm (White and Wenge *43/*93). Cut-to-size tops are supplied oversized to allow for the
appropriate end panel e.g. a 453mm counter top suits a 400mm chest and two end panels.
End panels are not always required - see End Panels. MFC cut-to-size counter tops are
edged on the front with 2mm PVC and the returns with 0.4mm pre-glued. MFC continuous
tops are PVC edged on the front and supplied with a length of extra pre-glued edging.
Veneered tops are wooden lipped on all three edges; extra end lippings are available.

TALL ANGLED ALCOVE UNITS

The Tall alcove unit is designed to be used
between wardrobes and tall cupboards.

They are supplied to suit a 2-drawer chest,
but can be reduced in height to match
either a 3-drawer chest or cupboard, or a
4-drawer cabinet.

The unit reduces from 442mm on its long
edge back to 310mm on the short edge,
across a width of 400mm.

TALL QUADRANT AND BASE QUADRANT UNITS

The tall quadrant unit may either be fitted flush to the front of the robe in which case a filler
should be fitted to the rear of the quadrant, or alternatively set back to the wall.

The base quadrant should be fitted flush with the chest or cupboard fronts and the wider rear
pilaster scribed to the wall.

Tall quadrant units may be used as bedside arrangements i.e. with no top boxes. In conjunction
with overbed pelmets, the width for bed arrangements may be varied enormously.

NOVEMBER 2008 Page 8 of 12
BI-FOLD DOORS

These are available in one range – Lucerne
(Light Apple). The doors are manufactured
from a post-formed melamine blank and
PVC edged on the top and bottom edges.
The door is split vertically, and joined with
four flat hinges, and is attached to the
cabinet using four standard 110O hinges. A
Bi-fold runner is fixed to the top of the door,
which locates into a track fitted to the inside
of the wardrobe top rail.Standard, Mirror
and Stable doors are available as single
one-piece doors. Bi-fold doors are ideal for
situations where space is restricted and a
fully opening door would be unsuitable.
Please note that bi-fold doors are only
available 450mm and 500mm widths.

WARDROBE FRAME SYSTEMS

These are designed to allow boxing around
chimney breasts, soil stacks and other
protrusions. The wardrobe frame is supplied with a pair of 130mm deep end panels and rails to
construct a 1000mm wide frame.

If assembling an oyster or white frame pack, the wardrobe should be assembled with the
appropriate colour top rail facing outwards. On all other colours, the beech face should face
outwards with the cams being covered by the cornice when it is fitted later. Cut the rails as
necessary to make a smaller frame.

The frame pack does NOT include base, back, top or shelf panels – if required, these should be
constructed from fitter panels, shelf packs or divisions. Frame packs are available in
Beech/Maple/Oyster/White – in all other instances, use a Beech frame pack.

CORNICE AND CEILING INFILS

Particular care has been taken in designing the system for ceiling infils and cornice to make it
simple to fit. The ceiling infil panels are 8mm thick, making them light to handle and fix. The
infil is screwed to the face of the top rail of the wardrobe, and scribed to the ceiling. The cornice
is already rebated at the rear to fit simply over the infil panel after it has been fixed to the
wardrobe.

For ease of fitting, the cornice should be fitted before installing the wardrobe base or shelf.
There are no ceiling infils available in Arvika, Lugano or colour Rialto. The oyster and white
ceiling infils are not available in gloss or woodgrain.

UPHOLSTERY

Since most customers wish to use their own coordinated fabrics, we do not supply headboards,
upholstered seat pads for window seats or stools. Your local upholsterer should be able to
provide you with a service.

NOVEMBER 2008 Page 9 of 12
FITTER PANELS

MFC Fitter panels are available in all cabinet exterior colours to enable you to customise
bedrooms. They are double sided and supplied at 2258mm by 650mm, taped along both long
edges.
Veneered fitter panels (Como and Ariane) are finshed on one face and two long edges. The
reverse face is veneered but not finished. Fitter panels in Light Apple have a beech face on the
reverse.

END PANELS

All end panels are available in three sizes to suit robe ends, 5 drawer ends and 3 drawer ends.
For different sized units, order appropriate size and cut down.

End panels were introduced into the range recently and have now become an integral feature of
a Crown Imperial fitted bedroom. There is an end panel for every door in the range, on some
ranges it is imperative to allow for an end panel on all visible ends as there are no matching
externals i.e. Arvika Wenge, Lugano and Rialto colours are supplied with beech ends, Espirito
and Rialto White are supplied with plain white ends and Ariane and Rialto Oyster are supplied
with plain oyster ends.
Como is supplied with Kristal Oak ends although veneered ends are highly recommended.
Applying end panels removes the necessity for mitring (mitres) the cornice and plinth. This will
reduce the installation time considerably.

END PANEL LIST

There are 8 different types of end panels:

19mm PVC Arvika
19mm Gloss Lugano
19mm Melamine Espirito
20mm PVC T&G Valbonne, Chantilly and Kendal
20mm Gloss Rialto Oyster and White
25mm Melamine Elisa, Naomi, Avesta, Gerona, Verona, Lucerne and Marilia
25mm Veneer Ariane and Como
25mm Gloss Rialto colours

All end panels are supplied in three sizes. Robe End (2258 x 650), 5 Drawer End (1061 x 475)
and 3 Drawer End (677 x 475). For different size units, order next oversize panel and reduce.

19mm PVC panels are wrapped like a door and therefore finished on all four edges. The
reverse face is beech but has a 20mm Wenge return down one long edge.
19mm Gloss panels are finished on 1 face and 4 edges. The reverse face is matt Walnut.
19mm Melamine panels are finished on both faces and 4 edges.
20mm T & G panels are finished on 1 face and 1 long edge (decorative fillet). The short edges
are part finished and the reverse face is unusable due to visible cam fixings.

25mm panels are finished on both faces, 1 long and 2 short edges. 25mm Gloss panels are
finished on all 4 edges and both faces. 20mm White and Oyster gloss panels are finished on all
4 edges and 1 face.
25mm Veneered panels are edged on 1 long, 2 short edges and 1 face. The reverse face is
veneered but not finished.
