5 WELCOME TO THE FIRSTBEAT SPORTS SYSTEM! As a coach (admin) you receive an email with instructions for registering to Firstbeat Sports. You can log into the Sports Monitor and the Sports Cloud with the created credentials. In case you have not received such mail, please contact out support (support@firstbeat.com).
6 CLOUD: SETUP WIZARD The SETUP WIZARD helps you get started easily. Also DEFAULT SETTINGS (units and description of the Training Zones, which can be customized for your needs) are addressed here. You should adjust these when logging in for the first time in order to have reports and analyses according to your wishes. Info: The SETUP WIZARD and other settings can be accessed by clicking on the upper right corner. !
7 CLOUD: TEAM MANAGEMENT Click on MENU to open TEAM MANAGEMENT in order to create a new team (“Create new”), add athletes (“Add new athlete”) and groups (“Add new group”). You can furthermore provide credentials, edit and remove specific athletes. Send login credentials to athletes, so they can begin recovery monitoring with the Firstbeat Sports App. Test results from the app will be automatically sent to Sports Cloud. ?
8 SPORTS APP & CLOUD: ATHLETE LOGIN With sending credentials to individual athletes, the athlete gains access to not only the Sports App, but also his/her own Athlete Dashboard by logging in via: www.firstbeatsports.com. The athlete can access and view his/her own recorded data and also access their individual reports.
9 CLOUD: ADDING ATHLETES / EDITING ATHLETE PROFILES In this view you can create or edit an athlete profile. In addition to required information, additional body metrics will improve the “Hide QR Test results in accuracy of the analysis. 10 CLOUD: LINKING HEART RATE BELT – ID TO ATHLETE Entering a belt-ID will pair a HR- belt with an athlete profile – enter the number shown on the back of the belt:
11 FIRSTBEAT TEAM RECEIVER – QUICK GUIDE Set-up the Firstbeat Team Receiver to start the monitoring Make sure that you connect the individual parts of the receiver as shown in the picture. Note that the receiver antenna needs to point upwards. Connect the receiver with the help of the adapter to the tripod and connect the cable to the USB- port of your laptop.
12 USING THE SPORTS MONITOR Log in with your credentials after having downloaded and installed the Sports Monitor software. With the Sports Monitor you can conduct real time monitoring (see pages 13 - 18) as well as the Quick Recovery Test (QRT) (see page 19). Info: Within the desktop version you also have the option to open the Sports Cloud (Internet connection needed) and make changes to your account or profile(s) if needed. !
13 USING THE TRAINING MONITOR Click on the MONITOR tab to start a new training session. The software will search for the receiver and belts. If you have entered multiple teams, please select the team you would like to monitor. Active belts are listed and can now be paired with its respective athlete (if not paired already). Click on START SESSION when all is set up.
14 TRAINING MONITOR: PRACTICAL TIPS If the belts have not been applied correctly or may be defective, you will be notified within the monitoring screen immediately. Make sure that the belts are therefore been put on correctly and securely as well as cleaned thoroughly. Please note that if the computer goes into sleep mode, the USB ports will stop functioning and recording will stop! !
15 TRAINING MONITOR: REAL TIME VIEW Once you start exercising, you can see the individual parameters of the players in the different boxes. There is also a box that shows an overview of the entire team and subgroups. The colors of each box correspond to the relative HR- zone of the players, which can be adjusted within athletes’ profiles. By clicking on LAP, you will place a lap marker that will be displayed on the final report.
16 TRAINING MONITOR: MANAGING ATHLETES & GROUPS From the MENU: Manage athletes and groups. You can add and remove athletes and groups to the monitored session. The Memory state indicates if the belt's memory is activated (recording). Belts which have no internal memory have indication "no memory". Despite the memory status, all the belts are transmitting and data is stored in real time. ?
17 TRAINING MONITOR: VIEWING SETTINGS You can expand the options by clicking on VIEW SETTINGS and choosing which parameters are shown in real time. You can select 1-4 variables at once (TE requires a space of two parameters). Please note that all parameters are still recorded.
18 TRAINING MONITOR: ENDING A MONITORING The session can be ended by clicking END SESSION. After ending the session, you can add training type and comments to the session which are then shown in the reports. Feedback reports are sent via e-mail (.pdf) after the data has been synced with the Sports Cloud, which happens automatically when the computer is online next time.
19 SPORTS MONITOR: QUICK RECOVERY TEST (3 MIN) Please follow the instructions for conducting the Quick Recovery Test (QRT) on the screen. Start each player individually by clicking the “Start/Stop” button beside their name or the whole team by clicking on START TEST FOR ALL. It is recommended to perform the QRT before a training session. Moreover, we recommend to repeat the tests under the same conditions (see instructions). 20 SPORTS APP: REMOTE MONITORING FOR ATHLETES The Firstbeat Sports App allows to conduct the QRT (3min) and monitor training and fitness remotely. The app is currently only available for iOs devices. Works with standard BLE- compatible HR belts. Sending athlete login credentials can be done in the Sports Cloud (see p. 7). Results from the app will be automatically sent to the Sports Cloud. 21 AUTOMATICALLY SENDING REPORTS - SETTINGS As a coach you aim to utilize the recorded data efficiently. Therefore Firstbeat Sports provides the following settings to be set up: Automatically sending reports after a training session of specific created teams can be edited in MY PROFILE. The group reports are send automatically to the logged in coach. This setting can also be changed for other coaches within COACH MANAGEMENT.
22 MANUALLY DOWNLOADING AND SENDING REPORTS The Online Dashboard (Cloud) allows you to download and send individual and group reports by clicking the PDF- icon next to the team/athlete. Additionally reports can be send manually in the (online) DASHBOARD view for group session and/or individual sessions to chosen target audiences. Example of the Cloud dashboard view at São Paulo FC.
23 MANUALLY DOWNLOADING AND SENDING REPORTS GROUP REPORT When selecting the .pdf- symbol for the group report, you can chose various options for sending the report. Additionally all individual athlete reports can be send to the selected addresses. INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE REPORT When selecting the .pdf- symbol for the individual report, you can chose various options for sending the report including the athlete.
24 SPORTS CLOUD: DELETING A MEASUREMENT You can delete a recorded training session within the Sports Cloud by clicking on the following icon on the right hand side of the session. Click on and confirm with “YES”.
25 GETTING MOST OUT OF THE CLOUD: DASHBOARD Within the DASHBOARD you can view all previous recordings of the respective player and the mean values of the entire team. The calendar view allows easy access to previously recorded data. Click on the upper right part of the screen to view the other parameters within the dashboard. Meaning of the color-coded dots in the calendar view: Blue: Exercise Green: Quick Recovery Test Purple: Stress & Recovery
26 GETTING MOST OUT OF THE CLOUD: ATHLETE RANKING By scrolling down the Dashboard, you gain access to an overview of your athletes. Within that view you can rank and compare your athletes. Three variables are available on default: they are set to Feedback, Training Effect and TRIMP, but can be changed by clicking on the variable itself.
27 GETTING MOST OUT OF THE CLOUD: HR-CHART In the ‘Ranking‘-view, you can additionally select a maximum of three players (see left side) for displaying their data in the so-called HR-chart (see next page).
28 GETTING MOST OUT OF THE CLOUD: HR-CHART The athletes’ HR-chart displays two variables: %HRmax and Heart Rate, which can be selected by clicking on the icon on the right hand side: Additionally, it is possible to filter the view by (de-)selecting single players, as well as the options to compare to All Athletes and 50% of Athletes.
29 GETTING MOST OUT OF THE CLOUD: DATA EXPORT TOOL* With the DATA EXPORT tool you can export selected measurements' analysis results to a single Excel file. After selecting measurements and clicking export you can use the advanced export settings to select different variables and time periods for the export. The export file includes always selected analysis results from whole measurements and also analysis results from time periods and laps when selected. *Premium-Feature, please contact sports@firstbeat.com for more information.
30 GETTING MOST OUT OF THE CLOUD: DATA EXPORT TOOL The DATA EXPORT tool allows you to select specific teams and athletes. Additionally, the search engine as well as the option to choose a certain sport enables to filter for certain measurements. Measurements periods can be chosen as well. The export process can be cancelled by reloading the page. Export variables are saved when using same device. A reset to default settings appears when deleting cookies.
31 GETTING MOST OUT OF THE CLOUD: STRESS & RECOVERY* Stress and Recovery monitoring lets you track player stress levels and observe recovery over a full 24-hour period. This includes overnight recovery and sleep duration. When using the first time, select “BODYGUARD CONFIG TOOL” from Sports Cloud and then follow the browser specific guidance for installing a plugin and/or extension (see following page). *Premium-Feature, please contact sports@firstbeat.com for more information.

33 STRESS & RECOVERY: UPLOADING DATA FROM BODYGUARD The next step is to upload recorded data by clicking in Within this view all connected BG2 devices and their the upper right corner on UPLOAD FROM BODYGUARD. device-specific information are listed. Merging possibilities are provided. Additionally, the memory of a device can be cleared here. As an admin multiple measurements of multiple athletes can be uploaded. Select the respective athlete, choose the corresponding measurement type (Exercise or Stress & Recovery) and click LOAD. When the measurement is shorter than 15min, the measurement type QRT is available. An athlete (over their respective Athlete login) can only upload their own data.
34 STRESS & RECOVERY: CREATING A REPORT Within the calendar view, the purple-colored dots indicate recordings for Stress and Recovery measurements. By selecting a specific measurement and then clicking on STRESS & RECOVERY more details appear below. Click here to download or send a report.
35 API - APPLICATION PROGRAMMING INTERFACE* *An API is available for premium customers only and technical specifications are available by request via sports@firstbeat.com. An API allows analyzed data to be synched with a third party data management system. API is taken into use by clicking MENU and then SETTINGS. After accepting the license terms, the correct provider can be selected from the list (Please note that available API partners are activated separately for each account). Once activated, analyzed data will automatically be synced with the selected third party system.
